Looking down at this powerful woman that I love so much, I brush her hair from her face.

My hand stutters.

"Viola," I say, voice tight.

Her body tightens at my tone. "What changed, Mace?"

"How do you know that's what this is about?"

"Because we both know I was going to get some sort of physical change and your voice just sounded like I had your balls in a vice."

I grimace, wiggling my lap underneath her. "Try not to talk about my balls like that when you're basically in my lap."

"Stop deflecting. What changed?" She sits up in front of me, and I get a good look at her from the front. A smile creeps up my face. "What happened? You better fucking tell me now, or I swear Mace…"

"Tuck your hair behind your ears," I tell her. Though her face is confused, she pushes the hair back. Or rather, she attempts to,and she's stopped by her ears being much longer than they were before. The tops of her ears have elongated into delicate points. They poke slightly out of her hair when it's down.

She groans, burying her face in her hands. "Am I even Viola Mistflow anymore? Fuck, so much has changed."

"Of course you are," I say, pulling her back to me. "Plus, I think they're really cute."

She pushes me in the chest, and I laugh as we play fight. After a few minutes, she says, "We need to find me a mirror." Just that small moment of silliness has significantly raised her mood.

The circle room has a mirror, so we cross the hall, and Viola spends a good five minutes examining her reflection. Eventually, she sighs, braiding her hair back. This makes her ears that much more obvious. "Well, it isn't the worst one," she says with a shrug.

In the galley, we grab our dinners and sit down at the table, where everyone gapes at Viola. "Yeah, I woke up, I just needed some sleep," she says, misinterpreting their gazes.

"Lola…" Tulip says, her lips rolling inwards. "How's your hearing today?"

Viola narrows her eyes, trying to figure out why Tulip would ask, but before she can get clarification, Tulip, Plume, and Jaz burst out laughing. Morrow looks up from his stew and joins the merriment. Zeph places his hand on Viola's arm. "I think they look nice, Shadowweaver."

It clicks in Viola's mind, and I finally lose my battle to hold in a laugh. "Oh, very funny, Tulip," she says, her anger exaggerated. "Now I'll be able to hear all the secrets you tell Zeph."

Tulip's spine goes rigid, and now everyone is laughing at her as she scrambles. "Please don't do that, no thank you!"

The night is one of easy camaraderie, full of stories and jokes. Jaz even tells us embarrassing stories of Viola from their youth. Plume, Zeph, and I tell stories of our joint adventures, and Zeph reminisces about Loris to keep his memory alive.

Viola doesn't try to use any Spring magic, but it's obvious that she has it through the change in her ears and her feeling of completeness. Looking at her, it's easy to see that all of the parts that she was missing have come together.

She laughs, and I study her profile, admiring her stern beauty. Her eyes flick to me, and she smiles when she sees me staring at her.

I can't help it.

She is everything.

And not just to me. Not just romantically.

No, she is a God of all magic now. A beautiful, deadly fusion of all the seasons.

A God of everything.

Chapter 25

Zeph

The four journals are spread in front of me on the weathered table, my head reeling with all of the information I've consumed. While most of it is written plainly and is very straightforward in terms of language, several strange passages stick out to me in each journal, and I keep going back to them time and time again.

There is so much history in these pages, and it makes me wonder how much of our history books are true and what parts are exaggerated. If these journals are to be believed, Krillium was very different in the time of the Gods than our books state.
