She turned in my arms, pressing up to kiss me. God, this woman. She stole my breath. Every day, I thought I couldn’t possibly love her more, only to find that I did.
“When can we move in?” she asked.
“As soon as you’re ready to.”
I knew she was excited for the new house, but the pool house held so many memories for us both. It was where everything had started between us. Where we’d first claimed one another. Where we’d started our family. But this house had more room for the family we planned to add. I’d made sure it was built exactly as Eliza and I had discussed, right down to the pool in the backyard. I’d hoped to surprise her, but this was even better.
“Can we sleep here tonight?”
“Until Hunter decides he wants his mama.”
She laughed. “I think he’ll be good until morning.”
“Oh, yeah? What exactly did you whisper in his ear before he left with Simon?”
“That when he woke up in the morning, Uncle Simon would make him blueberry pancakes then bring him to the new house.”
“Hunter knows about the new house?”
“Hunter is always with me, Gabe. Of course, he knows.”
I laughed. My youngest hadn’t spilled the beans at all. He ‘d keep me on my toes as he got older. He’d probably tell his mother everything, though.
“Plus, I have it on good authority that he wants a little brother,” Eliza added with a grin.
“I think we can manage that.”
I backed her toward the bed, pulling my shirt over my hand and dropping it to the floor as I walked. She ran her fingers along my bulge.
“We definitely can.”
I swept her up into my arms and carried her the rest of the way, lying her atop the mattress and coming down over her. We made love for hours. Exploring each other the way we had before we’d had kids. Taking our time. Wallowing in one another.
The next morning, I awoke to Taylor’s bellow from the front door, followed by Simon’s laughter and the sound of feet running toward our bedroom. Three heads appeared as Thea, Teddy, and Hunter bounded into the room and onto the bed. It was a good thing we’d pulled on some clothes after our last round of lovemaking.
Giggles abounded while we cuddled and kissed and heard all about the night’s adventures. Thea bounced beside me as she spoke, Teddy at her side. Hunter had immediately gone to him mama, wrapping his arms around her as he snuggled close.
“I home, mama,” he whispered. “Did you miss me?”
“With my whole heart,” Eliza whispered back, and I felt those words deep in my soul.
I loved this woman and our children with my whole heart. They were my entire world, and my world was absolutely perfect.
