“Why did you never tell us about Gary?”

Oh, right. Meghan mentioned that she’d brought him up.

“I try not to think about him.” My lips press together. “He’s a lot of bad memories.”

“Is he still around?”

“God no. I haven’t seen him in…I can’t even remember how long.”

“But he was a threat?”

Straightening up, I draw one leg onto the couch and nod. “He was really sweet, but then he started listening to all these horrible podcasts and falling into the wrong crowd online. He was sleeping around every chance he got because he was told it was a man’s right or whatever. Then he turned cruel, and, well, one night, the fighting was just too much, and we broke up. Good fucking riddance.”

“The comments on your socials…I’m only asking because they seemed personal, like from someone who knows you, and after Meghan brought him up, the others and I were wondering.”

“You think it’s him?”

Finn shrugs. “I’m not saying anything for sure but given everything that’s happened with your car, the club and the online hate. Is it a possibility?”

“I guess.” Mulling over Gary, a sudden uncomfortable sensation swarms my chest and I immediately move in against Finn’s broad chest. His arm immediately drops around my shoulders and hugs me close.

“Sorry to have brought him up. I just wanted to know a little more.”

“It’s okay. If it is him…honestly, I’d be relieved.”

“Really?” Finn’s fingers trail over my shoulder in a lazy pattern.

“At least it would be a face I know and not some random stranger, y’know?”

“Better the devil you know,” Finn agrees quietly.

We sit like that for a long while, simply soaking up each other’s presence and all the uncomfortable feelings from the police visit slowly melt away. Soon, there’s nothing but tiredness and a deep sense of peace brought on by Finn.

“Do you want to stay over?” I lift my head from his chest. “It’s late.”

“Depends. Do you want me to stay over?” he asks with a light smirk. “Or stay over?” His eyebrows waggle, then he winks and I laugh, shoving at his chest.

“I don’t know. Last time you said you couldn’t fuck me the way I wanted, right? Because of an old wound?” My attention turns south to his hip and I run my fingertips along the seam of his jeans.

“Emma?”

“Mm-hmm?”

“My hip and knee might be weak, but I don’t need power in my hips to fuck you properly.”

I lift my eyes to his, losing myself in their stunning hazel depths.

“Show me.”

“Fuck!” I writhe on the bed, clutching at the slats of my headboard where Finn ordered me to place my hands and keep them there. My entire body stretches like a bowstring while I arch up from the bed, and just as the hot, delicious cusp of my orgasm comes into sight, Finn removes the vibrating toy from between my legs.

“No!” I whine at the loss and slump back down onto the bed, panting harshly. Finn chuckles and his tongue sweeps across my aching pussy, chasing the tingling throbs that pulse through me.

Thrice, he’s brought me close to orgasm, and thrice he’s denied me.

“I still can’t believe you carry sex toys with you,” I gasp, panting against the slow, teasing strokes of his tongue.

“Well,” Finn chuckles and he leans up to hover over me. “When you invited me over, I thought this was the initial plan, so I came prepared.”
