When he leaves, I get up to brush my teeth. In the mirror, I take in my disheveled hair sticking up in several different directions, but I don’t care. I continue my routine, wash my face, and then slip back into bed still wearing Foster’s shirt since it’s comfortable and roomy. I am almost asleep when a thought pops into my head—I’m going to be sharing a bed with Foster tonight and the next couple of nights. Shit.

The scream dies in my throat as Foster roughly covers my mouth with his hand. He’s tearing me apart with each thrust, and my insides are burning with white-hot pain that sears through my body. He grunts like a rutting animal, and the longer he goes, the further I leave my mind and think of only good things.

“Paige, wake up.”

Foster’s voice tears me from the horrible nightmare. The room is dark, and he’s stroking my face with his warm knuckles.

“Fuck, I’m sorry.”

“This is the second time you’ve had a nightmare. I want to know what’s bothering you.”

I wince as Foster turns on the light on the nightstand. “It’s nothing.”

His face is full of concern. “It’s not nothing. I don’t hear you cry out in your sleep at home.”

This is it. I can either tell him what my subconscious is conjuring up or lie.

“It’s you,” I whisper.

“Me what? What did I do?”

I sigh and look away from him. “You’re raping me.”

Foster gently pulls my shoulder until I flop to my back. His face is twisted in horror. “I would never,” he stresses. “What makes you think I would hurt you like that?”

“I don’t know.”

“If we ever have sex, I would worship your body like a queen.”

I shrug. “I don’t know why I’m having these dreams.”

“I can show you how tender I can be, just say the word.”

“Can you just hold me?”

“I think I can manage that.”

Foster shuts off the light and climbs in against me, wrapping his arms around my body. It’s been a while since we last slept like this, but it’s comforting, and I fall into a fitful sleep, this time without my nightmare.

We took an extra couple of days, and Foster showed me Paris. We visited the Eiffel tower, walked the streets, and purchased small trinkets from shops. EXPAND
