“I’m convinced she loves you more than me.”
The corners of my mouth curl in a wicked grin. “I could use this information to blackmail you into getting what I want. I could whine to Laura so she would nag you.”
Foster leans over to kiss my cheek. “All I want is you. You can have everything, as long as I have you.”
“You have me,” I reassure.
After a moment, he says, “Something surprises me about you.”
I stroke the scruff on his face. “And that would be?”
“Why didn’t you spend more when we were together?”
“I was trying to be fiscally responsible. I’ve been so horrible with money, and I knew our marriage wouldn’t last forever.”
“I want it to last forever.”
“Does that mean I can spend your money?”
“No. It means you can spend our money.”
I yawn.
“Sleep my love and have good dreams.”
I close my eyes and almost drop off within seconds. I do have pleasant dreams—ones of my future with Foster.
