I glance at Lana. “He couldn’t give himself to me. He changed after our second honeymoon. Foster wasn’t that same person.”

“Well, the man has several faces. Typical.”

“Why is it typical?” I throw back.

“Born with a silver spoon up his ass, he can buy the world, and he bought you for his purposes. I wish you’d come to me. I can’t say I’m not disappointed. Wait until Mom and Dad find out.”

I inhale sharply. “You can’t tell them. Your disappointment is enough.”

Zane smirks. “At least your soon to be ex-husband is finally getting his just desserts. The state slapped him with a huge fine.”

I shake my head in disbelief. “I don’t take pleasure in his misery.”

Lana gets up from where her place and sits next to me, holding my hand in as she settles. “How are you doing?” she asks softly.

Her tenderness causes me to cry until I am sobbing so hard that my head hurt. “I still love him,” I choke out. Zane rubs my back, and I bury my head in Lana’s shoulder. Although it’s out and I feel a bit better, it’s not by much.
