“Yeah, yeah. You’ll have them before because Vincent has a doctor’s appointment at noon, and I want to take him so Olivia can have a break.”

“Fine.”

What Lucian doesn’t know is that I have several pictures of Lana hidden in my wallet and my desk. Five years and I can’t get her out of my head. I still jerk off to images of her. Not that I don’t have plenty of sex with random women, but she was my ultimate, and now she’s back.

I type Declan Blair into Google and bring up dozens of articles with pictures on him. The ones I’m most interested in are the ones where Lana is escorting him. I find five such ones and read the accompanying copy. She met him at some fundraiser in Los Angeles, and they hit it off.

She moved in with him a month later, and he just asked her to marry him a week ago. There is a close up of the ring she’s wearing, which is about three times the size of the one I gave her. It looks garish and oversized for her finger. She’s dressed in a long red gown with a plunging neckline. A locket, bigger than the one I gave her, adorns her neck. Every picture I see with her, she’s wearing the locket. It seems she never takes it off, and it must have sentimental value.

I spend an hour reading articles about her and Declan. They’re moving to Manhattan and looking at multi-million dollar properties. The wedding they’re planning will take place in three months, June, the same month we were to get married. Rodrigo and Rachel Vicaria, the famous wedding dress designers are creating a one of a kind wedding dress for Lana. I’m lost in thought when Jan buzzes, scaring the shit out of me.

“Yeah, what?”

“You have a visitor.”

“I’m not expecting anyone. Please get their name before I waste my time.”

The phone clicks, and I’m annoyed that Jan hung up on me. I’m not in the mood for games this morning. A minute later, she’s racing through the door.

“Mr. Butler…”

I cut her off and angrily tell her not to hang up on me again.

“Zane, Lana Collins is here to see you. I didn’t want to tell you over the phone.”

“Excuse me?”

“Lana Collins is here. She wants to speak to you. Should I show her in?”

“Can you please ask her to wait until I buzz you? Oh, and Jan, I’m sorry for snapping at you.”

“I understand, sir.”

She walks out of the office, and I can feel my palms start to sweat. What the fuck. After five years, Lana is going to stroll into my office

like nothing happened? Should I even let her in my office? I decided I should be a mature adult and listen to what she has to say. First, I call Jan and tell her to escort Lana to my office, then run to my bathroom and check my hair to make sure it’s not a mess.

As the door opens, I stand, and what I’m looking at is nothing short of exquisite. The pictures on the internet and her engagement announcement do not do her justice. She looks fantastic, maturity suits her as she stands before me dressed in a tight charcoal gray pencil skirt, white silk long-sleeved blouse, four-inch black heels, and she holds a chic black leather jacket under her arm. I dig my nails into my palms to help remind me not to gawk. Jan closes the door, and I gesture to the leather chair in front of my desk.

“Miss Collins, please sit.”

“Pretty formal for someone who has seen me naked.”

I frown and sit in my chair, ignoring the visceral response in my trousers to the image of her naked.

“That’s what you want to start with? Why are you here?” I snap.

“Zane, there’s no need to be rude.”

“Miss Collins.”

“Lana.”

“Lana, what would you like me to say,” my blood is boiling with rage. I want to say all the things to her that I didn’t have the chance to say five years ago. That she shredded my heart and tore me apart. That I haven’t healed from losing her. But I need to keep in mind that at least a good part of our demise was because of me.

“Hello, at least. I want to talk to you.”

“So talk,” I cross my arms and stare at her gorgeous features trying to keep thoughts of what I want to do to her out of my mind.
