“I’ve been wet all day. This is the second pair of panties I put on. Zane, fuck me.”

I steady her against the wall and put my hands under her ass. Her legs tight around my waist and arms locked behind my neck. I bury my face in her sweet-smelling hair and pump hard. She moans with each stroke as my balls slap against her flesh. This is going to be quick because it’s been so long since I’ve come.

“Lana baby, I can’t hold it. I’m sorry, but I have to come.”

She doesn’t answer but keeps one hand around my neck and moves the other between us. She begins to rub her clit, and as the first blast of cum shoots forth, I feel her quiver and tighten against me. We come, hurtling through our orgasms together.

“Oh God, that was so good. It’s always so good with you, Zane.”

“You’re mine. I want you to say it.”

“I’m yours forever.”

I carry her to the bedroom, and there we spend the next several hours acquainting ourselves with each other’s bodies. We doze, and I wake with our legs tangled together. I’m exhausted but sated. I kiss her cheek, and she mumbles something.

“What did you say?”

“Since when do you like babies?”

“When you got married, I was miserable. Lucian asked me to go to his house in Cape Cod with a few other couples. I went because I thought it would do me some good to get away from the city. I stayed on the beach under an umbrella with the children and Olivia. Vincent woke, and I picked him up in my arms. It just felt so natural to have this baby there. That night, I was the last one to go upstairs. I stopped in the kid’s room to check on them. Olivia got up, and we talked. I told her I was thinking about surrogacy.”

“Really? You would be a single parent?”

“Sure. I could learn to take care of a baby.”

“So, have you looked into it yet?”

“No. Do you want to know something crazy? You know what my plan was?”

“What?”

“To wait out your marriage. I thought that since Declan’s last two marriages were so short that yours would be, too. I wanted to wait and see if you would come back to me.”

“I wanted to come back. I’m here now. Do you still want to have a baby?”

“Very much so but only if you want to. I don’t want to pressure you. You know we would make beautiful babies. A little girl with your soft brown eyes and long eyelashes.”

“What about one with your pretty blue eyes?”

“I’d rather she looks like her mama.”

“I just want a healthy baby.”

“That’s all that counts.”

We spent most of the weekend reacquainting ourselves with each other’s bodies. Lana and I talked about the future. She no longer wanted a large wedding having been a spectacle at her recent nuptials to Declan. She wanted a quiet get together with a few friends and family. I had to agree. I just wanted her to be my wife. I didn’t care about all the other parts.

On Monday, I went to Emily to ask if she could recommend a good divorce attorney. She looked at me kind of funny but gave me the name of one that just so happened to be in the firm of Keene, Ashburn, and Wilder that Lucian had used. I placed a call and was given an appointment for Wednesday afternoon with Todd Ashburn, son of one of the partners. I texted Lana to let her know.

I had paged through the document as I sat at my desk. Most of it was in legalese, but there were a few things I recognized that I didn’t like. One particular passage referred to Lana paying her share of the wedding expenses because the marriage lasted less than a year. With the extravagance of their wedding, I doubted she could afford even a sliver of the cost.

It was just another example of how Declan tried to control her. To keep her close to him when he knew she had nothing to give if it all went to shit. I wanted to know if that was binding. Lana had told me that when it became serious with Declan, he insisted that she quit her job. He had told her he didn’t want any fiancée of his working.

I was sure by that time that he tore her confidence down and had learned to exert his control over her by plying her with gifts. Lana was intelligent, but growing up as she did, she was taught the value of material items. I was sure that James Collins was on the dirty side even though his firm was prestigious with multi-millionaire clients and celebrities.

It enraged me that he seemed to use his daughter as a pawn when it came to Declan Blair. Rather than worry about her well being, he was worried about his pocketbook. I wasn’t sure we could have a relationship with Lana’s parents, especially when Declan went down.

I left work at 4:00 PM. I missed Lana, and on the way home, I picked up a large bouquet of red roses. I wanted her to know that she was always on my mind. When I walked through the door, I heard her on the phone having a heated argument with someone. She sounded in between tears and anger. I hung back to give her privacy, and I was curious who she was talking with.
