“Ava, please remove your hand,” he choked out.
She removed her hand and went back to the couch. She sat down and adjusted the top part of her dress revealing even more of her breasts. Then she picked up the laptop and began to type.
Xander was having a hard time controlling himself with her in that condition. His nostrils were full of her perfume. He got up and began pacing the room avoiding looking at her until his erection had subsided. Ava continued to type and ignored him.
Later that evening in her apartment, she straddled his lap to kiss him. He slipped his hand under her shirt and stroked the smooth flesh of her back, moving his hand higher until he was touching her bra strap. He ran his fingers over the soft cloth until he got to the clasp and began fiddling with it. He slipped his other hand under and together expertly opened the clasps that held the bra closed. She moaned into his mouth as his fingers massaged her upper back. He traced the sides of her ribs and moved his hands to the front of her shirt until he was skimming the undersides of her breasts.
“It’s nearly nine; I need to go.”
“What? No way, you are not leaving me here like this.”
“Oh, you don’t like being seduced?”
“Oh my God, this is for today isn’t it?”
Xander gave her a lopsided grin.
“You, Xander Wilder, are a bastard. Wait and see what I wear tomorrow.”
He looked at her wide-eyed. This is how it went for the rest of the week. Ava dressed provocatively, and at night he paid her back by seducing her. Even though she wasn’t able to be sated, she was enjoying the cat and mouse game they played. It was even more enjoyable because it was being done without the knowledge of those around them. Their coworkers and family just assumed that they had come to some agreement to be civil to one another. They didn’t see the stolen kisses, caressing of skin and the loving glances they gave each other.
The next weekend, they made good on their promise to volunteer at the Kids Afloat Center. Xander taught a drawing class, and Ava assisted him. He drew a sketch of her with charcoal and the children tried to follow suit. A couple of them were pretty talented, and Xander promised to teach them how to paint.
Ava was curious if he had continued his creative activities when they were apart. When they arrived back at her apartment, she asked him if he was sketching in California. They had not discussed the things they did when they were apart. Xander would be shocked to learn of her behavior, and she wanted to be honest with him.
“I wasn’t, but I was writing in my journals each day.”
“Xander, how come you were writing if you had Kaycee?”
“Because she wasn’t you. I won’t disrespect her by saying she was a distraction. She is a very nice, caring person just not for me.”
“What did you do when we were apart?”
She didn’t want to look at him and hung her head.
“Ava, look at me? It doesn’t matter because we weren’t together.”
“It does because the things I did were out of my nature.”
“Tell me; I want to know even if they are horrible.”
She told him about her friends with benefits arrangement with Luca, sleeping with David and what she did with Jimmy at Ember. She also told him about her overindulgence in alcohol during that time. He patiently listened to her, and his heart grew heavier with each piece she revealed.
“I’m so sorry. I just lost it when I got that email.”
“That brings me to something else I wanted to ask. Who is this person that invaded our relationship and what are we going to do about them? I’m sure that we can have them arrested for fraud.”
“I don’t want to do that. I have my own brand of justice for him.”
“You don’t need to risk injury to get him back. We can let the police handle it.”
“Please let me take care of it. He’ll get what he deserves.”
“It’s not that guy you were with at the party, is it?”
“I suspect it is, but I need to trap him to find out if he is the one.”
“I want you to be careful if you do. If he went to these lengths to break us up, then there is no telling what he might do. I worry you’ll get hurt.”
