“We’re meeting with them for lunch tomorrow.”

“No. Nope. No fucking way.” I stormed out of the room. No fucking way was I marrying some chick I’d never even met. I wasn’t going to be tied down in marriage to anyone, ever.

Chapter One

West

“Do you have any plans for the weekend?” Sawyer asked me as Denver came into view.

We’d finished a meeting for work in Vail, and when I went out to start my SUV, the engine wouldn’t turn over. Sawyer offered to drive my ass all the way from Vail to my place in Denver. At this time of the evening on a Friday, and with traffic, the trek was well over two hours.

“I’ll need to go to the dealership tomorrow and pick up a new battery. So that’s priority number one,” I replied.

Sawyer laughed. “Yeah, the more tech they throw into these SUVs, the more they drain the batteries.”

I nodded as I pulled my phone out of my coat pocket. I quickly pulled up the dealership’s website to check the hours for Saturday.

“Do you need a ride?” he asked.

“No, Spencer can bring me.”

“If plans change and you need a ride, just text me. I might be down in the city tomorrow anyhow. My parents have some charity function I need to stop in for.”

“Thanks, Sawyer. I’ll let you know, but I’m sure we’ll make it to the dealership just fine.”

After a few minutes of silence, I asked him about his weekend. Sawyer lived the ultimate bachelor life, but he was close to his family, and it seemed they always kept him busy. “So aside from the charity event with your folks, what else are you doing?”

“I’m not sure exactly. You know me; I’ll just kind of wing it and see what comes up.”

I laughed as I gestured toward the exit we needed to get off at. “This exit coming up is the one.”

“This is the first weekend we’ve had off for at least a month. What else are you doing? You can’t blow a perfectly good weekend by getting a battery and going back up to Vail,” he asked.

Sawyer, Spencer, and I all worked for Black Diamond Resorts in some facet or another. Spencer was the Chief of Information Security for the resorts the company had in the Colorado ski towns. Sawyer and I handled physical security of the weekend parties that the owner, Michael Alatorre, often hosted at the resorts. Sawyer was also Michael’s next in charge, and they were often glued at the hip.

“Spencer and I are going to hit up a club and see what kind of trouble we can find since weekends off are hard to come by.”

“Do you guys have a preferred club?”

“Edge,” I volunteered.

Sawyer knew I was bi and into kinky stuff. He was also aware that Spencer and I were a thing, but he never batted an eye at it or acted like he was uncomfortable around us. Actually, none of the guys we worked with treated us differently.

“Edge is a badass club.”

“You’ve been there?” Even though Sawyer was a playboy, I was surprised that he’d speak favorably of the club, as if he’d been there. Edge was mostly known for its kink and fetish atmosphere and parties.

“Oh yeah, lots of times.”

“Nice. I didn’t know you were into that scene. That’s cool.”

“My motto is that I’ll try anything at least once … maybe twice.”

“Sounds like a good motto to live by,” I said with a laugh as we drove along the quiet streets to the place I shared with Spencer. As we turned onto my street, Sawyer asked the million-dollar question. “So what are you and Spencer looking for this weekend?”

“A needle in a haystack,” I replied. I wasn’t sure how interested he was in hearing what Spencer and I had truly been looking for, or if it was just polite, casual talk.

“That’s vague.”
