No.

I needed him to suffer. More than Giselle did.

More than any of those women did.

That thought raised my spirits. Thinking about Sergio’s blood draining from his body while he begged me for his life.

My smile grew.

I’d let him plead all he wanted. Until that fucker took his last breath.

And then I’d rip his head clear off.

Hmm.

Maybe I would get some sleep tonight after all.

Giselle

“They’re looking at us like they want to eat us,” I told my best friend in the world.

She giggled, and I watched her breasts bounce.

“Well, that could be arranged, you know.” She waggled her eyebrows at me.

This time, it was my turn to laugh.

“Momma, I’m so tired.” Dani turned around in my arms, causing the pool water to splash. She sighed and snuggled into my neck.

“Oh, my gosh. She is such a good kid.” Eve patted Dani’s back. “Do you think you could teach your cousins to love their naps, too? It took me forever to put them down this afternoon.” Eve’s brood was down for the count early today. The twins had been teething. And miserable.

And Marcello fell right to sleep after his lunchtime nursing.

I smiled and kissed Dani’s head. “She’s always been a good sleeper. But your brother is making up for it.” That was only partly true. Marcello slept decently. For a young baby. But that also meant he was still up a couple of times at night.

“Can I put you to bed, Miss Daniella? Auntie Evie will read that caterpillar book to you.”

Eve always knew just what to say. Not that it would take much. Dani loved her auntie.

“Yeah, cata-pwir-were, pweese.”

Eve melted as Dani turned and reached out for her.

The water splashed me during our handover.

“Are you in the mood to, um, have some fun?” Eve hugged Dani but gazed over at the men who were currently leering at us.

It was a beautiful day out. The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. It was one of those long summer days that seemed to go on forever.

And I was definitely in the mood to have some fun.

I smiled at Eve and nodded. “I could definitely go for some fun.”

She giggled and winked at me. “Okay. You guys get started and I’ll join you after I put this one down.”

She treaded through the water with Dani, and I watched her shapely behind while she climbed out of the pool.
