Chapter 3

Kimmie

I don’t get a chance to have a good look around when I first walk in. Instead I follow Ringo down a short hallway, helping a sleepy Remmy walk as straight as he can to a bedroom on the left.

After showing us to the room, he walks back out without a word as I tuck my son under the covers. He’s completely asleep before I ever pull the covers over his boyish frame.

Walking back out, I shut the door behind me and make my way back to the front room, looking around as I do. It’s a beautiful cabin with all natural wood from floor to ceiling.

It’s an open floor plan with the kitchen being on one side of the room while the living room is on the other.

One whole wall of the room looks out over the landscape which I’m sure is amazing during the light of day.

Hearing a noise, I turn to see Ringo coming through the front door carrying our bags and I rush over to his side.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I was standing around gawking instead of helping you get our stuff.”

“It’s alright. Look around.” He shrugs. “I’ll put your stuff in the master bedroom. It’s...on the right.” He looks down at the floor as he continues walking in that direction.

“In your room?” I ask, right behind him.

“I won’t be here. You’ll have your own...bathroom too.”

Looking at his back as he walks into the room, cutting the light on as he goes, I start to notice his small pauses while he’s talking and I wonder if it is just the way he speaks or if he does it purposely. I’d never have the guts to ask though.

“The bathroom is right through there.” He nods at another door in the room and I look over at it.

The thought of having an amazing bath sounds more lovely than anything in the world right now.

While we’ve been able to have showers on the road at truck stops, it’s not the same as being able to lay back in a full tub of water and just letting my muscles relax.

“A bath would be great. I’m sure I still smell like the food we cook at Bella’s Brew.” I laugh nervously.

“Go...ahead. I’m...going...to check...some stuff. Before I leave.” He says the last bit in a rush just as his body leaves out through the door, shutting it behind him.

He acts a little strange, talks a little strange but I don’t get the impression that he’s the type I should be afraid of knocking the door down to get to me while I’m taking a bath.

Going through my bags, I find some comfortable clothes and head into the bathroom. I really hope not all the shampoo and stuff is mostly for men.

While I’ll still use it, I prefer something that isn’t overpowering in the way it smells, which is how most products for men are.

Finding pretty normal type products in the bathroom, complete with some bath bubbles, I do a little happy dance as I turn on the water as hot as I can stand it.

Ringo

I breathe a sigh of relief once I get out into the hallway. I’ve never been so affected by a woman before but something about her standing in my bedroom, a place no woman has ever been before on top of knowing she will be naked in my shower, was getting to me.

I’m in the kitchen taking inventory of what is in my fridge and cabinets ten minutes later when I hear a small scream.

Taking off at a run, I go straight through my bedroom and shove the bathroom door open, ready to attack only to be met with a very naked and very wet Kimmie standing in the middle of the bathtub.

Noticing me there, she immediately tries to cover herself with her hands unsuccessfully so I turn my back to her once I get my feet that feel like cement to turn me around.

“What are you doing?” She demands breathlessly.

“I heard you scream. Thought something was wrong.” I answer quicker than I thought I could.

“I’m sorry. It was a spider.” She finally answers and I hear her moving around behind me.
