He wasn’t expecting my words, but he didn’t show his shock either. “Insatiable, are we?”

“Hardly,” I breathed easily, though my throbbing lips screamed I was lying. “You being silent is unnerving. I would far rather put you to better use, and you have no real useful skills apart from…”

“I must say that is the nicest compliment you’ve ever given me.”

“It wasn’t a compliment.”

He twirled me in his arms so that my back was now to his brother and father.

He drew his mouth by my ear and whispered gently, “Tell me, wife. How wet are you for me?”

Memories of the way he had taken me in the study only a few short days ago filled my mind and the throbbing increased, swelling my lips further.

“Bone dry.” I was meant to say that with more conviction in my tone, but the heat in my body betrayed me. He pulled me in closer and pressed my pussy against his hardening length.

“Liar.” He brushed his lips against mine.

My entire nervous system went into overdrive from that one action. The pleasure-filled waves ran up and down my spine rocking my system to the foundation.

My God, I wanted this man.

“I still hate you, you know?” I said, but my words didn’t hold as much power as they should have.

He pulled back slightly to look into my eyes. “The feeling is mutual, bruja.”

His eyes slid over my head and looked to his father and brother behind me. His gaze hardened and his body went rigid all over again.

“Excuse me, I need to attend to something.” He left me on the dance floor to go to his family. I watched him walk away from me and then my eyes found the eyes of Valdez senior.

As soon as Andres made it to them, Felipe broke our stare off and turned all his attention to his eldest son. I had no idea what he said, but whatever it was didn’t please my husband. The two went back and forth for a few seconds before Valerio cut in and said something that made all three men look my way.

They were talking about me. They could not have made it more obvious than they already had.

Why the hell were they discussing me, and did it have anything to do with Andres being in such a foul mood since yesterday?

Not one to sit ideally by, I walked over to my in-laws and husband.

“Savina,” Felipe greeted me as I came to a halt where they stood. All three of the Valdez men looked at me with varying expressions. “Thank you for making it tonight. I know you’re a very busy woman.”

“We are family after all.” I gave him a tight-lipped smile. “I would say happy birthday, but your added years are more of a curse than a blessing to the world.”

The smile slipped from his lips, but only momentarily. “Always the joker I see. You look lovely tonight, the red on you is striking. I must say you take after your mother’s beauty. Where is she tonight? I did extend my invite to her as well.”

I hated the way he talked about my family so casually. My mother was a very sensitive subject, and everyone around me knew that. Her mental battles were no secret but they were also not up for public discussion either. She was only now returning to her old self, and I would be damned if anyone slandered her much less trash like him.

“She’s allergic to bullshit and couldn’t quite stomach the thought of being around you, but she does send her regards.” I had chosen a long time ago that I would never play nice with this man. He has disrespected my father’s name once, and that was enough for me. He had a special place in hell waiting for him.

Valerio muffled his laugh by taking a swig of his drink while my husband stared at me with a bored expression on his face.

“Of course.” He sucked the air between his teeth. “Would you mind coming with me my dear? I would like to have a word in private.”

“I think not,” Andres interrupted. “You have nothing to discuss with Savina, papa.”

“Oh, but I think I do, mijo. You can’t hog her the entire night.” Felipe offered me his hand, which I just stared at. “I don’t bite, cara.”

“Sadly, I do.” Regardless of my words, I still placed my hand in his. I cut my stare to my husband, who looked at my hand in his father’s with disdain. “I’ll be back.”

Felipe ushered me out of the ballroom and toward what I presumed to be the way to his study. I had only ever been in the Valdez estate once, and still, this place reminded me of a prison. It was nothing more than a golden cage.
