His eyes narrowed on me. “You think this is funny? That’s almost 2 million dollars’ worth of pills down the drain, Savina! We are meant to be partners—the alliance, remember?”

“Oh, how could I forget.” I waved him off. “Today will go down as the worst day of my life if I’m honest. Besides, how do you even know it was me?”

He swiped the screen that showed the note I had instructed should be posted on the fence.

See you down the aisle, Caro. —S

“Oh, silly me, how could I forget? It was your wedding present.”

I walked over to the small table that had the ice bucket with champagne in it and poured myself a glass. I made sure to take my time with it just so I could irk him even more. I took a long sip and turned to face the dashing groom.

For all his annoying qualities, the man was very easy on the eyes. I wondered if he fucked as good as he looked.

God! What was wrong with me? He was the enemy. Maybe I needed to get laid again, I had been on edge the last few weeks.

“Would you like one?” I lifted my flute to him. “I feel your father could have sprung for the more expensive bottle, but I can see your family is on a budget.”

My smart-ass remark had the anger rolling off of him in waves.

“Why?”

I shrugged. “You disrespected me.”

“How? Because I made a few sexist comments? That’s why you blew up my goddamn warehouse?”

I shrugged again, to which he turned and threw his phone at the wall. He swiveled back my way and pointed his stupid finger in my face. “You’ll pay for this.”

“The phone, or the opioids?” It was best that I de-escalate the situation, seeing as we were only minutes from saying I do, but getting under his skin was just too fun. “Bill me.” I used the exact words he had said to me on the day we had met for the formal introductions.

He cursed in Spanish at that.

“Before you go, I have a gift for you.” I set my flute down, walked over to my dresser and grabbed the phone I had used to record my little adventure yesterday. I pressed in the gallery, opened the video and started playing it for him out loud. I turned the screen to him and showed him exactly why I had been at his penthouse while he was out.

The sound of slurping and moans filled the room as the video played on. I watched his face morph from annoyance and frustration to full-blown-outrage. The vein on the side of his neck popped out as the blood gushed throughout his skull.

“Is that…” He balled his fists at his side.

“Your Head of Security eating my pussy while Daniella pegs him from behind? Yes.”

Seeing the look of sheer rage on his face was worth the scolding I was going to get from my uncle for the warehouse incident. “You see, Andres, I’m not one of your little docile toys that you used to play with. You’re in the big leagues now, and here in the big leagues we don’t take kindly to disrespect.”

I peeped over and saw that he was at the part of the video where I had the back of Daniella’s head in my hand and her mouth devouring my nipples. She was good, but I had experienced better.

“You fucked our wedding planner in my presence and then proceeded with your stupid sexist comments.” The sides of my lips tilted into the smallest of smiles. “You see, amore mio, my bite is far more ferocious than my bark. So, keep pulling your nonsense and you will find out just how deep my teeth can go.”

His lips pursed into a thin line, his eyes still glued on the screen.

“This time it’s your Head of Security. Next time it might be your brother, for all I care. Or maybe your father.” I loved watching the side of his eye twitch like that. Getting under his skin was going to be my new favorite pastime. “Or better yet, I heard that Elliot Davern is in town for the next few weeks?”

At the mention of his mortal enemy, he snapped. He drew his face only mere inches from mine, invading my personal bubble and filling it with white-hot steam.

“You wouldn’t dare.” His hot breath fanned my face. His blue-grey eyes darkened to something deadly and sinister. “Not even you are that foolish.”

It was like looking into the eyes of a beast.

Unhinged. Calloused. And cold.

I knew that beast well; it had been the same one that had comforted me in the early days of my leadership. It was what had saved me and what had allowed me to spill the buckets of blood I had needed to stay at the top.
