The first time I heard the song Jamie had written about me, I’d cried. Not because the lyrics were clever and poetic, though they were, it was much more personal than that. It had been how Jamie had expressed his feelings in words that had touched my soul.

As he sang, white smoke rose from beneath his feet as his focus turned in my direction and he strode across the stage. Standing motionless, save for a hand that tapped his chest, he sang not part, but the complete song to me, like I was the only person present.

When I realized the audience sang along, I turned my head to look and realized flurries of flowers and panties were landing on the stage around his feet. The fact he looked oblivious to them spoke volumes of his commitment to me.

As the song finished, I realized a commotion next to me and saw Lottie’s hand up the hem of her short skirt. She pulled down a pair of faux silk panties, tied a coin in them and quickly lobbed them onto the stage. As we were almost directly above where Jamie stood, they landed on his right foot. Without missing a beat, he casually flipped them off to the side.

Lottie chuckled and turned to me. “Come on Daisy, show your man, your love, throw your panties at him. You’re still a fangirl, right?”

She egged me, nudging me with her elbow until I felt brave enough and submitted. I delicately removed them and threw them on stage. They landed on Jamie’s guitar peddle and I chuckled. He looked down and recognized them as some he’d bought me in New York, glanced up toward where he knew I was sitting and grinned.

Lottie, to my surprise, then removed another pair of panties and threw them towards Jamie. Her aim was poor, and they fell short, landing on one of security stewards at the front of the stage.

I leaned forward into Lottie’s ear. “How many pairs of knickers are you wearing?”

“I had four, three for throwing and one for wearing. You?”

Suddenly I felt stupid. “A few,” I lied with a shrug, now conscious that my bare ass would show, if sat awkwardly, bent over or negotiated any stairs.

The song concluded to rapturous applause and screams ably assisted by Lottie.

Jamie tapped microphone, “Bonjour Paris,” he said in his American twang. A swell of cheering greeted his brief attempt at French.

Lottie reacted wildly at that one word. “Dear, God, my ovaries just exploded Jamie can speak French,” she swooned. “Don’t ruin the fantasy, by telling me he doesn’t, Daisy.”

When the cheers subsided, Jamie slipped his mic in the cradle of the microphone stand. “This next song is from our most recent recording sessions in the studio. The words of this number were inspired by a lady who is in the audience tonight. It’s about my girl, Daisy, and I’m dedicating it to her.”

It was another ballad that told of his love, the way he felt when he looked at me, the way I centered him and made him feel something he’d never realized he’d been missing.

Halfway through the song Jamie unclipped the remote mic from the stand and moved to my side of the stage, looked straight up at me and continued to sing.

Lottie grabbed my arm and squeezed it tightly. She stopped screaming for a moment and breathlessly shouted, “Oh, my God, I think I’m going to pass out.”

“Calm down,” I told her as I tried to compose myself while tears streamed down my cheeks.

“Why are you crying, Daisy?”

“I just find this song very emotional,” I said, wondering how someone so dense couldn’t understand how affected I was that he’d penned how he felt about me.

Chapter 15

"Jamie has requested you in the wings,” Felix muttered in my ear in his stern accent and I almost jumped out of my skin.

“Feck,” I blurted, spooked by his sudden appearance at my side.

Lottie looked alarmed, and I knew instinctively what she thought. “Felix, if I don’t come back here, would you come and get Lottie and bring her to the meet and greet when the concert finishes?” Felix nodded and relief washed over her face. When I’d made my way to the passage behind the seating area, Felix waved me ahead and followed behind. Leaning past me, he shoved the door and held it open, then closed it firmly behind him.

“This way,” he signaled, stepping ahead of me for the first time as he led me into the enormous pit beneath the stage and up another flight of stairs. The beat of the music thrummed beneath my feet as I walked, the vibrations ran up my body, and it was a feeling unlike any other I’d felt before and I felt how the band must feel each time they performed live on stage.

I understood why Jamie had me sit out in the audience and not stand near where they performed as soon as I reached the side of the stage. The noise was deafening and the vibrations running through my body gave off a strong electrical buzz dead center in my chest. Between the uncomfortable feeling and the noise, it was an unsettling feeling. My hands flew up and covered my ears, and seconds later someone tapped my shoulder and gave me a set of noise reducing headphones to wear.

Once the sound of the band became tolerable, I enjoyed watching the band’s performance from the side, and as the song they were performing finished, Jamie glanced over to the side. Seeing me brought a naughty smirk to his lips which turned into a smile and he immediately ran over to see me.

“Hey, Baby,” he greeted, his sweaty arm damp when he flung his arm around my neck. “Are you having a good time?” he shouted above the complicated riff Ticker played to the crowd.

“The best, you’re incredible,” I screamed back.

“Good answer,” he beamed, his pupils dilated with pleasure. “Here’s your reward.” He pressed his hot lips to mine and immediately explored my mouth with his tongue. Leaving me breathless, he broke the kiss with a groan and ran back out on stage. It was yet another in a long line of moments when I couldn’t believe my luck. My boyfriend had thousands of female fans literally at his feet, yet he took some time away from them to steal a kiss from me.
