I walked into the lecture hall and I sat down, my pencil poised and ready.

And the test was easier than I expected. From the study session with Miller last night to a glance over a few concepts, I walked out of the hall with my head held high, with another ten minutes left.

My initial thought was to call Miller and share the good news that I could possibly have passed my test, with his help, of course. But I got sidetracked by puppies.

Actual puppies.

There was an animal shelter that had a pop-up tent out on the quad of campus. There were two areas with dogs. One for medium-sized dogs and another for smaller dogs and puppies.

I got distracted for a few hours by sitting criss-cross applesauce and getting all the kisses that I could from excited four-legged little guys and letting them crawl all over me. So distracted that I almost took a few of them home with me.

It was a nice reward for instant cuteness after concentrating on the equations that I needed.

My shift was starting at the diner in a few hours, so I made my way home and got ready. My shift went by quickly. My regulars stopped in and there was a sizeable group that I had to rearrange half of the diner for. I’m back home and in bed before midnight.
