Chapter Twenty-Four

We’rein the living room, watching a movie on the couch, my body is turned into his and his arm is around me, holding me to him.

The front door slams and I hear Steph stumbling around behind us. We can’t see her, since there’s a wall blocking the view, but I know from the muffled sounds that she brought a guy home with her.

In a flurry, she and the guy move through the space and immediately, Steph’s butt is placed on the back on the couch. They are paying no attention to the surroundings or that there is a television on, with two people sitting together, right beside her tight skirt.

I clear my throat and when that doesn’t work, I turn my body and hit her on her thigh, which does the trick.

“Oh, shit. We didn’t see you guys here,” she looks at us.

“Clearly.”

“We’ll take this in my room, don’t mind us.” Steph pushes the mouth that was attached to her away and then drags him down the hall by his shirt, a moment later the sound of the door shutting behind them with giggles from Steph.

“Does that happen often?” Quinn asks.

“What?”

“That whole scene. I know that I don’t know her as well as you do, but that’s a different guy from the last time I saw her with someone, right?”

“Oh, yeah. Steph isn’t a relationship kind of gal. She’s a free-spirit and prefers to not be in relationships that are labeled.”

“A free-spirit, eh?” he grins.

“That’s how she likes to title it.”

“Who’s to say that she’s not having connections?” he asks.

“True, she does have a short attention span.” I laugh.

A few minutes later, her bedroom door opens, and Steph walks the mouth out. The farewell is quick at the door, then she comes and sits beside me.

“So, what are we watching?” she asks.

“That was quick.” I note ignoring her question.

“There was just something about him that irked me. He was fine at first, but then he was asking if you guys would join in and that was just hella weird. After that I was pretty much over it.”

“So, what did you tell him?” Quinn asks.

“I tried to continue going to see if I could get back in the groove, but then he asked again.”

“So, he was determined.” I laugh.

“He was very much saying, ‘they’re hot, let’s bring them in’, but I think he was more so wanting the dick.”

“And you don’t have one of those,” I point out.

“That is correct.” She nods.

“What was this one’s name?” I ask.

“Chriss, but with two ’s’, not the standard one s, and he sure as shit liked to make that known. The entire time at the bar, he wouldn’t stop talking about his name is much more unique than other guys with the name Chris, and it took every ounce of my being to not just get up and walk away.”

“Aw, his parents thought that they were being creative!” Quinn jokes.

“Exactly.”
