“It means that if we're going to have fun, I want to make sure that I show you the most fun you've ever had in your life."

"Okay. Like how?

"Like, have you ever had anal?"

"I'm not doing anal with you, Kingston."

"Have you ever had anal? I didn't ask if you want to do it with me."

"No," she says. "I don't want?—"

"Aha. So you don't know the joys of it."

"Kingston."

"What? I'm just saying," I chuckle. "Have you ever been tied up?"

"Like you mean with handcuffs, or a tie, or…?"

"I'm talking about with rope and hanging from the ceiling."

"What? You're not for real."

"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. But if you're open to exploring, so am I."

"Kingston, I think we're going to have to have a chat while I'm there because I think you and I are thinking about this in two different ways."

"Oh yeah? And how are you thinking about it?"

"I'm thinking about we just have some casual sex every now and again. You're acting like you're Christian Grey."

"Really? I make Christian Grey look tame. Trust me."

"Trust you?" she says, laughing. "I don't know if I would be wise to trust you."

"Maybe you are smarter than you look," I say.

"Really?"

"I'm just joking. I'm going to send the cab over now. It should be there in ten minutes, okay?"

"Sounds good," she says.

"Good. I'll see you later." I hang up the phone and I walk into my bathroom. I stare at my reflection in the mirror.

What have you done, Kingston? I shake my head. Even though it had been my suggestion, it’s not something I've ever contemplated in my life before. I don't believe in messing around with people who work for me, even if we’re keeping it separate.

But there’s just something about Skye. Hearing her voice sounding so sad and desolate, it made my heart pang. And seeing her in that office all alone with those files, it made me feel guilty. And hearing that she couldn't go back to her apartment because her roommate was banging it out with someone else, it just doesn’t sit right with me. And if I‘m being honest, I thought about her all day and missed her company, missed her laugh and smile.

I’m looking for a relationship, and I don't want this to go anywhere, but it would be fun just to see where it could lead.

Chapter Nineteen

Skye

"Hi, thank you so much for picking me up," I say to the cab driver as I slide into the back seat. I stare at the stack of files on the seat next to me and let out a deep sigh. "I am guessing you know the address."

"I do," he says with a nod. "Settle in."
