"I cannot promise anything," she says as she takes another strawberry. "All I can say is that I'm going to let the night take me where it will. Are you going to text Kingston?"

"Oh, hell no," I say, shaking my head. Though, as I say that, my phone beeps. I stare Elisabetta and she just smiles at me and stands up.

"I'm getting in the shower."

"Okay," I say as I pull out my phone. I see I have a message from Kingston. I open it.

"About those files..." I groan as I read it.

"It's not Monday morning yet," I send back immediately.

"I need you to finish them first thing tomorrow."

"Um okay. You could have told me this tomorrow."

"No, because I need you to come in early."

I roll my eyes. "How early is early?"

"I think 5 A.M. should do it."

"Keep dreaming, Kingston."

"Nah, I'd rather keep fucking," he responds.

I gasp. "Totally inappropriate."

"Sorry. You're right. So I'll see you at 5:00 in the morning?"

I just stare at the phone before responding. "Unlikely. Goodbye." I power the phone off and shake my head, then place my bowl in the kitchen sink and run my fingers through my hair. I don't know what the fuck I'm doing, and I don't know what the fuck Elisabetta is doing either. We've both lost our minds. Absolutely lost our minds. And the crazy thing is, I don't even care. I feel like I'm finally living. I feel like I'm finally experiencing life.

I power my phone back on and call Lila.

"Hey," she answers, gasping for air. "What you doing?"

"I was just calling to see what you're up to today. I'm not interrupting you, am I?"

"Oh, I was just on the treadmill, so I'm very grateful for the interruption," she says, giggling. "I don't have plans today. I think Max is meeting up with Gabe, and Marie might be interviewing with him or something? So if you want to hang out..."

"Perfect," I say. "I have so much to tell you."

Chapter Eighteen

Kingston

My phone beeps at 10 PM and I frown when I see that it's a notification from work. Someone has entered my office. I immediately sit up and bring up the cameras. My jaw drops when I see Skye on the screen grabbing something from my desk.

"What on Earth?" I mumble to myself as I quickly dial her number. The phone rings a couple of times before she answers.

"Hello, this is Skye."

"I know it's you. I called you."

"What's going on, Kingston?" she says, sounding annoyed.

"What are you doing at the office? Are you trying to steal trade secrets or something?"

"Yeah. I am stealing all the trade secrets to sell to the Russians for millions and billions of dollars." She lets out a sigh. "You said you wanted the files taken care of, right?"
