"For the dates, the fun nights that you plan. I don't want you having to spend your money on the dates that we plan."

"They're not dates," she snaps.

"Well then on the activities that we partake in before we bang."

"Oh, wow. Way to make me feel like a classy woman."

"What would you rather me say, Skye? Would you rather me say dates? Would you rather me say activities? Would you rather?—"

"I would rather not talk about it in the office." She gives me a stare. "Thank you very much."

"Okay then. So you want to talk about it later?"

"We can talk about it on Friday afternoon," she says. "When I figure out what we're going to do."

"You haven't figured out where you're taking me on our fun night yet?"

"No, I have not," she says. "And if you keep this up, there's not going to be another fun night."

"Oh, so you use me for one fun night and that's it?" I grin at her.

She just shakes her head. "I have work to do Mr. Chase, so if you don't mind." She picks up the headphones on the side of her desk and places them over her ear then gives me the sweetest smile. "If you have any other questions in regards to work, please let me know." She puts the headphones over her ears and presses play on the digital recorder I'd handed her earlier and begins typing into her laptop.

I stare at her for a couple of seconds and just smile before heading back into my office. I sit at the desk and watch her typing outside the tall window. I wonder if she's really mad at me or she is just faking it for work. I have a feeling it's a little bit of both. I'm curious what date she's going to plan. Even though technically they're not dates, that's how I like to think of them.

I probably shouldn't. It most likely puts me in a mental place I shouldn't be in, but I don't care. I'm having fun and I hope she's having fun too.

I scowl as I remember that she said she'd applied to be on Love is Blind. I type the name of the show into Google to check out what it's all about. As I read about the premise, I'm not impressed. I do not want her going on that show. I do not want her looking for love with a stranger. I do not want any of it. For a few moments, I think about applying myself.

How funny would that be if we both got on the show and she didn't even know I was in the other pod? I grin to myself. I wonder if we would connect then. I freeze as I realize what thoughts are crossing my mind. It shouldn't matter if we connect in the pods because the pods are about finding a connection and I'm about physical intimacy.

"Remember what you're doing, Kingston," I chastise myself as I click out of the website and open my emails to see if I have anything that I need to send. I take a deep breath, close my eyes, and rub my temples as I realize this is getting far too complicated, far too quickly. You just need to remember what this is about. Sex and fun. Fun and sex. I open my eyes again and my heart races slightly as I see that I have an email from Skye. I grin as I open it eagerly, and I burst out laughing as I read what it says.

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Skye

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to nominate my jerkface of a boss, Kingston Chase, for the worst boss of the year award. I don’t know if that’s a category at your esteemed paper as yet, but if not, it should be.

Yours Sincerely,

Skye Redding

Skye,

You do realize you sent this to me, your boss, right?

Not Amused,

Kingston Chase

Kingston,

Maybe if you cracked a smile some days, you wouldn’t be the monster that you are.

Skye
