“Thank you, Stace.”

“Of course.” She smiles but I can see the shadows in her eyes.

“Don’t worry.” I give her arm an encouraging squeeze. “Tomorrow, when we’re at a place I know just outside of town, I’ll contact Konstantin, and he’ll get Lev.”

“Thank you.” She gives me a tight smile. “I’ve ordered some room service as well.” She points to the bathroom. “I’m going to climb into a hot bath.”

“Okay!” I nod. “I’m going to see what’s on this hotel’s television.”

Ten minutes later, I’m still flicking through channels that have nothing on that’s capturing my interest when there’s a knock at the door.

“Room service,” a female voice calls.

“Thank you. Can you just leave it in the hall,” I call through the door. What hotel doesn’t have peep holes in the fucking doors?

“Okay,” the woman says. “But I need you to sign the docket.”

“Can you show it under the door? I’ve just climbed out of the bath.”

The docket shoots beneath the door and I pick it up. I find one of the complimentary pens, sign, and shoot it back to her.

“Thank you,” the woman calls. “Enjoy your meal and just leave the tray outside when you’re done.”

“Okay!” I wait and listen for her footsteps echoing down the hall before quickly unlocking the door, slipping out, and getting the food. My stomach growls at the aroma, and my mouth waters. “I’m so hungry,” I mutter, kicking the door closed with my foot.

I’ve just put the tray on the small dining table when I feel a cold breeze wafting into the room. Turning toward it, I scream when I see three big men in the room.

“Isabella!” Stacy rushes out of the bathroom, freezing when she sees we have company. “Oh fuck!”

“You might want to put some clothes on, Stacy,” I whisper.

She nods and slips back into the bathroom where she took the flannel pajamas we’d bought earlier that day while we wandered around the small town.

“How did you find us?” My eyes travel from one giant to the next and they are not happy.

“Leaving the Land Cruiser on the outskirts of town with your watch in it was clever.”

“It was fucking genius,” Stacy walks back into the room wearing her bright orange flannels with a kitty cat face on it and fluffy slippers.

“But staying in the town was not.” Andrey’s cool silver eyes stare into mine.

“Still so judgy,” I say, folding my arms.

“Hey, Isabella and Stacy,” the third man pushes past the other two surly brutes and rushes toward us to wrap us in his arms. “Fuck, I’m so sorry. I should never have listened to Pavel and gone with you.”

“Hello, Temur,” Stacy and I chorus, hugging him back.

“How is Pavel?” Stacy asks before I can.

“He’s healing,” Konstantin snaps. “Little sister, what were you thinking?” His eyes blaze into mine. “You should’ve ditched the watch, disengaged the GPS, and kept the Land Cruiser and kept going.”

“We needed money to get transport back to Boston,” I defend our actions. “I called my reserves, using my pseudonym.”

“But as soon as the money was in you should’ve gone,” Konstantin points out. “We could’ve been the people who kidnapped you.”

His words squeeze my heart and my eyes drop to the floor. “We know who kidnapped us.”

“No, Isabella,” Stacy says. “Remember we discussed this earlier and we both agree they helped us escape.”
