Once I’d left the house, I had called Maksim to let him know that I was on my way to see Rurik and Vlad, and he had immediately insisted on meeting me there. He had also called Akim, so that Akim could spread the word that Samara was off-limits to everyone. Since Akim was my boyevik, he was in charge of the kryshas, torpedoes, and bykis, and so it was his duty to inform them of their responsibilities, their newest one to stay away from Samara.

When I got to the research facility, it was just in time to see Maksim getting out of his car, and to see Orlyn standing next to his vehicle, patiently waiting for us. My guess was that Maksim had called him because Orlyn was good at ministering first-aid well enough to keep our enemies alive longer than they should be able to once we got a hold of them.

As soon as I approached both men, I said, “I’ve assigned Viktor to Samara, and I’ve already informed Akim of this.”

Viktor Galkin was one of our best byki, and his fists were just as deadly as if he had a gun in his hands. He was trained in several disciplines of martial arts, and the man had no family, which made the sacrifice of his life an easier choice to make when it came to protecting Samara. I needed to know that Samara was safe, and next to Maksim, Bogdan, Melor, and Akim, Viktor was the best that I had.

Just then, Akim was pulling his car up next to his brother’s, and when he got out of the vehicle, he said, “It’s too early in the morning for this shit.”

Maksim and Orlyn just snorted as I said, “It’s past ten in the morning, Akim. That’s hardly early.”

“It’s early if you just got home at five in the morning,” he retorted.

“Pussy does have a way of messing with a man’s schedule,” Orlyn smirked.

Akim flipped him off. “I’ve got the men searching the ports for Manziel,” he informed us. “Got a tip, but it didn’t pan out.”

I looked over at him. “The ports?”

“Relax, Pakhan,” he replied as he stretched, his body cracking too much for someone so young. “I got permission from the Sartoris. In fact, a few of their men helped.”

“Christ, it’ll be one less headache when we finally find the asshole,” Maksim muttered.

“I couldn’t agree more,” Akim huffed.

Ignoring their chitchat, I headed into the building, and when I entered the second examination room, Ivan was sitting comfortably in one of the cushioned chairs in the control room, playing chess on one of the tablets provided to them for entertainment purposes. I preferred that they not use their phones for such activities, lest I have to kill them because their phones died, and I was unable to get a hold of them. I had no patience for ignorant mistakes.

When I looked to the other side of the room. Rurik and Vlad were hanging from the chains hooked to the ceiling, and they had already pissed themselves if the odor in the air was any indication. Of course, they’d been hanging there for over ten hours, so it’d been expected.

Opening the doors to the room, neither man begged for his life or offered an explanation, and I had to respect them for that small show of bravery. Plus, having worked for me long enough, they knew that any pleas would fall on deaf ears anyway. Still, they deserved to know what they were hanging in here for, and because they’d been loyal up to this point, closure was the least that I could give them.

“Now, while I am not sure how you came about to believe that our guest had been put in the cage to entertain you, it does not matter,” I told them. “I had been specific in my direction that she did not require any special attention from either of you, and that included your cocks.”

“We…we thought you…you meant that we weren’t allowed to torture her,” Rurik replied, finally speaking, and I could feel my blood beginning to simmer dangerously.

“Because you believe that rape is not torturous for a woman?” I posed. “Because you believe that a woman fighting against one of the worst things that could possibly happen to her is not torture for her? How is fear, abuse, trauma, and a violent violation of the body not torture, Rurik?”

His head dropped, and that just infuriated me more. “I made…I made a mistake.”

“No,” I said shaking my head. “A mistake would have been you attempting to abuse some random woman on the street, Rurik. A mistake would have been had she just been a random piece of ass that you felt owed you something, which no woman does, just so we’re clear on that.” I walked over until I was standing in between both suspended bodies. “What you did was not a mistake; what you did was attack that which belongs to me.”

“O, Khristos,” Vlad rushed out, but Christ was not going to help either of them right now.

“That is correct,” I went on. “Our guest belongs to me, and she belonged to me when I placed her inside that cage and promised her-on my word as Pakhan-that she would be safe.”

“If that weren’t enough, we don’t rape women,” Akim chimed in, something that he was very adamant about since he oversaw our prostitution ventures. “I’m not sure when you forgot that fact, but that would have been a problem, no matter who she’d been.”

Orlyn, Ivan, and Maksim remained silent as Akim and I explained things, but Rurik and Vlad had been with me long enough to know what all their specialties were, so it wasn’t like they had any false hope of getting out of this alive. In fact, only Vlad had any hope of mercy since he hadn’t touched Samara and had been trying to talk Rurik down.

“I…I didn’t know,” Rurik remarked, even knowing that it wasn’t going to matter.

Stepping back from both men, I began removing my jacket, and because Maksim knew me well, he walked over to bring me the tray of foreplay, as we liked to call it. Now, while I only needed Orlyn here for this, I knew that Maksim would stay with me for the duration. In fact, it was a given that Maksim would take over Vlad’s punishment while I took care of Rurik.

“Akim?”

“Yes, Pakhan?”

“For the men that weren’t around during the early years, let them know exactly who Samara Andreev is, and that also includes who her sister is,” I instructed. “I will not have another misunderstanding like this happen again.”
