“Excuse me for a second,” I said as I stormed out of his office, adamant on finding Drew. I was going to let things go and forget all about him, but he had lied about me and brought my brother into his weird delusions.

“Brooke, I’m sorry!”

“Bestie? What’s wrong?” Marie ran after me, and I was too angry to process what they were saying around me. I turned around and stormed back to Thomas’ office.

“What’s his apartment number?” I asked him, and he shook his head. “Thomas, give me his apartment number now, or I will sue you for extortion!”

“B38,” he told me way too quickly. “You won’t do anything that will land you in jail, right?”

“Depends on what he says.”

“What’s going on?” Marie cried out, confused, and I ran up the stairs, not willing to wait for the elevator. “Brooke, talk to me!”

Marie would talk me out of what I wanted to do. Drew had been way too disrespectful for far too long, and I had to teach him a lesson. When I made it to the second floor, I banged on his door. I didn’t miss that Marie was a bit left behind, but that didn’t stop any of my indignation toward Drew.

I banged on his door once more, kicking it in the process.

“Drew! Open up!” I yelled as my fist met the white door.

“Brooke! Don’t—“ Marie yelled, and at that moment, Drew opened up his door with a smug smile on his face.

“Brooke, I knew that you would come to me once he was done using yo—” My palm met his cheek, and his eyes widened in horror as he stared at me. “Baby?”

I threw another slap on his right cheek this time, and he took a step forward, his eyes soft with care, and it made me sick. Just how delusional was this man? Blood trickled down his chin from his mouth, and I found it hard to breathe as I stared at him.

“It’s okay; you can take your frustrations out on me.” He opened his arms out for me, and I was beyond disgusted.

“Brooke, stop it!” Marie huffed when she finally reached me.

“It’s okay, Marie. She needs it.” Drew raised his hand to shush Marie, and the rage that coursed through my veins when he said her name consumed me.

“What the fuck? How do you know my name?”

“I know everything about Brooke,” he admitted, his smug smile still etched on his face. He grabbed my hands, and his eyes held a crazy look as he leaned forward. “You can slap me around all you want, but I love you.”

“Don’t touch her, you freak!” Marie screamed as she pulled me away from him, and he had a dark look in his eyes as he looked at Marie.

“Don’t get between us; you’re not even a real friend.”

“Where do you get the audacity to lie about me and involve my brother?”

“Lie? I didn’t lie about anything, Brooke.” He took a step forward, and Marie blocked his path, stretching her arms out as she challenged him. “Move.”

“You take another step between us, I will knock you out!” she threatened, and I touched her shoulder, letting her know that it was okay for her to move.

“I asked you a question. Why are you telling lies about me and involving my brother?”

“Ugh, Brooke!” he groaned as he rolled his eyes. “It wasn’t a lie!” he yelled, and Marie was startled. “You and I, don’t you remember the night we spent together? You even left your key at my apartment. You told me about how your brother passed away on his birthday. If you think I’m mad about you sleeping with Asher, I promise you, I’m not mad.”

“You are mad,” I whispered as I raised my finger. “You are totally insane! What the fuck are you talking about! I have never spent a night with you, neither have I ever told you anything about my brother, so don’t lie. Tell me the truth, how do you know about my brother?”

He rolled his eyes, but I kept mine trained on him. My hand itched to slap him again, but Marie held me close to her.

“Did you hear me talking about it with Asher?”

“That man,” he gritted as he clenched his fists. “Among many other things you did with him, yes, I heard you talking to him, but I forgive you. You were confused, and you ran into his arms for comfort instead of mine, and now that you’ve broken up, you can come to me for comfort now.”

“You invaded my privacy,” I whispered as it all began to click. The reason why Asher asked me if I had been messing around with my lock, and the reason he insisted on changing my doors was because of the psycho man before me. “Asher knew?”
