Naomi walked around her house with her phone tucked between her shoulder and ear as she talked to her mother-in-law on the phone. Her dress clung onto her like a second skin, and she groaned as she pressed her forehead on the cold island top.

“Is that so?” she asked as she listened to her mother complain. “Another one!” She yelled, surprised at the information she had been receiving from her mother.

“Yes, you didn’t know?” Maya asked as she listened to her husband complaining about her outing him to his daughter-in-law.

“But Ma!” Naomi whined as she leaned against the island. “Didn’t we just have one last week?”

“That’s exactly what I’m trying to tell Arthur, but it seems as if he and Alex have decided to go on with it.”

“We’ll see about that.” Naomi scoffed as she stood up straight, placing her free hand on her hip. “I’ll call you later, Ma.” She hung up the phone and finished up folding her clothes. “Seth!” she called out for him, and he hesitantly answered.

“Yes, baby?” he asked softly as he walked out of their bedroom, running to her. If there was anything he had learned being married to Naomi for the past three years, it was that when she called, he’d better come running.

“Another cookout?” she asked as she dropped the shirt on the island, popping her hip out. Alexander's eyes looked into her eyes for only a second before he soon got distracted by her belly. “Here!” she scolded, motioning to her face, and he stood up straight.

“You were saying?” he asked softly as he tilted his head to the side, smiling innocently.

“I asked why you and your father want to have another cookout? Don’t you see you’re stressing me and Ma out?” she asked, and he grimaced as he caught her tone. She definitely wasn’t happy about it.

“But it’s a little cookout,” he whispered as he played with his nails, avoiding her intense gaze. “Just before the baby arrives, we want a little barbecue.” He motioned with his fingers, bringing his index finger and thumb closer to each other.

“Stop lying—nothing you do is ever small. Look at my belly!” Naomi pointed to her belly. “Twins, Seth! TWINS!”

“Shh-shh.” He calmed her down, fanning her. “You’ll wake them up,” he cooed as he touched her belly and softly pressed a kiss on it.

“Don’t pretend as if you’re the one carrying them. They’ve been awake,” she grumbled, and he gasped as he looked up at her from his knelt position.

“Excuse me!” He put his hand on his chest. “If I remember correctly, I’m the one who went through the morning sickness, and I still get weird cravings.” He listed each with his fingers, and she giggled as she remembered how he would whine about vomiting every now and then. “As far as I’m concerned, I’m pregnant as well—you’re just carrying them for us,” he said as he pressed another soft kiss on her belly.

“But come on, we can’t be having another cookout already. Wait until the twins are born,” she whispered as she threaded her fingers in his hair, softly massaging his scalp. Alex nodded as he pressed his forehead against her belly. “And I want a new charm bracelet from Swarovski,” she said, softly giggling to herself as Alex agreed.

Whenever she had him in this position, he would agree to do absolutely anything for her. That was how she’d managed to get a new car from him.

“Wait what?” He looked up at her and she nodded, pulling his head back against her belly.

“Shh-shh, you’ll wake them up,” she said softly as she massaged his ear with her fingers.

“You said they were up already,” Alex mumbled, and she hummed.

“I did,” she confirmed. “I also said we won’t be having a cookout this weekend.”

“But…” Alex looked up at her, ready to dispute, but after seeing her glare, he nodded. “Fine, I’ll tell Dad,” he pouted as he got up. Naomi knew better than to fall for his pout as she had a few times in the past. That was how she had gotten pregnant in the first place.

“You better,” she warned as he got up and walked away to their bedroom, dragging his feet.

She giggled and shook her head as she gathered the twins’ clothes they had already bought and brought them to their room. Opening their closet that was already filled with the necessities and fitted with different baby compartments done by Daniel, she sighed happily as she packed the clothes carefully.

Both she and Alexander could not wait for the arrival of their twins. When they found out they were carrying two babies, they were overfilled with joy—even though she was more shocked than happy—but soon she accepted, knowing she had married into a family of twins. Although their excitement was nothing compared to her friends and family, who continuously bought the unborn twins presents any chance they got, filling their baby room with many items.

Her phone vibrated, and she reached into the deep dress pockets, pulling it out. She read the message, and a happy smile grew on her face. “Baby!” she called out as she quickened her steps to arrive at their bedroom. “You know I love you, right?” she whispered as she looked at him from the door. He was on the bed, still sulking with his phone in his face.

“You do?” He looked at her from the corner of his eyes, and she giggled as she joined him on the bed.

“Absolutely,” she said as he helped her climb over his lap. “Are you sad we can’t have a cookout this weekend?” She tilted her head to the side, so that she could look at his face that was being covered by his phone.

“No,” he mumbled, and she gently pulled the phone from his hand. “Yes,” he admitted, and she held his face in her hands, pulling it to hers. Pressing her lips against hers, Alex looked at the door and continued pouting.

Naomi rolled her eyes as she pressed another kiss on his lips. “I’m still sad,” he whispered, pursing his lips together, waiting for another kiss. “A bit longer this time,” he mumbled, and she smiled as she pressed her lips against his.
