“I’m the one that gave them your number,” I said, and he rolled his eyes, leaning against his locker.

“Thank you, sire.” He bowed, and I laughed as I got changed into my uniform. “Why is Noah glaring at you?” he asked as he pointed to Noah, who was just leaving the changing room.

“I’m pretty sure you know why,” I mumbled as I tied my shoes.

Jeff smirked as he said “Remind me to never follow in your footsteps.” Oh, please!

“Why? Afraid of falling in love?” I asked, and he looked taken back before he chuckled and shook his head. I wasn’t keeping it a secret anymore that I loved Naomi. I even told Noah when he approached me and asked me why I bothered his daughter.

Sure, at first it was for fun, but now I was totally smitten by her.

“No, of being hated by her father.” He laughed as he walked away. Yeah, sure, there were better ways to introduce yourself into your new family, and my way wasn’t the most conventional, but Noah should get used to seeing me around and make peace with me. The reason being?—

I’m going to marry his daughter; she just doesn’t know it yet.

Was I being delusional? Absolutely not! I was taking this period of us apart as a way to grow, and a way for me to mature and know how big of a task I had in my hands. Naomi was a special woman and different from many that I had courted—and married.

She wasn’t materialistic but did like surprises. She wasn’t choosy, but she did have her preferences. She wasn’t loud but was vocal about what she wanted. She didn’t judge, but she did have that stare that made you second-guess everything you were doing. She was sweet, warm, stern, and gentle. The perfect qualities of the mother of my children.

Fuck, I missed her.

When will she come back home? Not to her father, but to me. I had been working so hard on being her home, and I knew I was making great progress. My sisters came by to my place on a regular basis, helping me change things around so that it could be Naomi-suited, but I just wanted us to buy a new house where we could both live together, with our children.

She has the choice on how many we’ll have, and I hope they take after her.

“You’re imagining some stupid shit, aren’t you?” Jeff groaned as he kicked the cage, looking up at the sky. The grass was still green, but the beautiful brown shade of the trees that surrounded the building reminded me of Naomi.

“How did you know?” I snickered, and he looked absolutely horrified.

“You were giggling and sighing. Quite disturbing if you ask me.”

He clicked his tongue, and my smile grew as I leaned in closer, to whisper, “I was thinking about my future wife.”

“One marriage isn’t enough for you?” He raised his eyebrow, and I wasn’t at all disturbed by what he’d said.

“Not enough to scare me away from marrying the love of my life.” I grinned, and I heard Leo’s baffled gasp.

“Huh? You dating, bro?” he asked as he stood in front of us. Jeff and I chuckled as we walked away, leaving him behind screaming for answers.

It will be a surprise when it happens.

Chapter 28

Alexander

“You sure you’re not jumping the gun here, bro?” Daniel asked as he finished making the notes on the A3 plan he’d brought.

“Yeah.” I grinned as I packed up my items inside my duffle bag. “Lock the door on your way out. I don’t want to be late for practice,” I said as I pulled on my jersey.

“Oh, look at you, rushing to work,” he teased, still looking down at the plan.

“I should at least be interested in my work, don’t you think?” I chuckled, and he nodded as he walked toward my fridge. Opening it, he grabbed a bottle of water before he closed the door and looked at it strangely.

“What’s this?”I turned away from my phone to look at what he was pointing at. A smile grew on my face as I looked at my neat handwriting. “And your handwriting is as shitty as ever.”

“That’s my goal list. Halfway there, bro.” I laughed as I pulled my bag up my shoulder. “And you’re just jealous my handwriting is better than yours.”

“Well, at least I’m married,” he said as he pointed to the last checkbox on the page. “You really are an insane man.”
