“Nothing,” I grunted, and his lips lifted as he smirked, taking a seat right next to me.

“Rumor has it you’re the only one who hasn’t been attending sessions this week.” He crossed his arms over his chest as he looked at me. Jeff was the same height as I was, but he was much bigger in body; the boy was obsessed with the gym, and I would give it to him. He looked really good.

Always had been a woman's man, with his dark skin always glowing and a killer smile. It was easy to see why half of the female staff was obsessed with him. He was also generally a gentleman, just had a lot of issues to sort out as well.

“The rumor is true,” I admitted as I leaned against my bobbing knees. Argh, this is exhausting.

“What did you do, man?” I could hear the amusement in his voice. He was really curious about what happened, and he found it really funny that I was the only one missing out on the sessions.

At one point, I would too, and absolutely love it; but right now, I just feel shitty about it.

“Why does everyone think it’s always me who did something?” I groaned, and he laughed as he checked his phone.

“Because you always do something, man.” He got up, shaking his head. “Anyway, if it pisses you off so much—pretty surprising—why don’t you go confront her about it?” he suggested as he shrugged. “Instead of stressing about it alone. Ask her what you did wrong, and then, maybe, I don’t know, apologize if she says you did something wrong.”

I looked at him for a second before getting up as well. He was right; I couldn’t just let it eat me all over while she was pretending I didn’t exist. It hurts!

“Thanks,” I said as we shook hands, and he chuckled.

“It’s pretty straight, man.” He shrugged as he waved his hand. I walked away toward her office. It was way after my session, and of course she’d canceled it again anyway, with the lame excuse that she had to quickly go home to fetch some documents… I mean, sure, why not fetch them during MY time, right?

Was I annoyed because I didn’t have my session or because she was avoiding me and it was hurting my ego? Absolutely the latter.

When I knocked on her office door, she sweetly allowed me to come in. I was sure she wasn’t expecting it to be me at all, and her reaction just proved me right. “Uhm, Alexander?”

“That’s me.” I smiled as she got up and walked around her table. “Wassup?” I used the same word Jeff had used on me earlier, and I couldn’t help but stress the ‘s’ sound.

“I actually have an appointment now,” she said weakly as she looked at her watch, and of course she was lying. She walked around me, heading to the door, and I scoffed as I stared at the spot she easily moved from.

I could easily tell by the little twitch her right eye was doing; one would mistake it for her winking, but I knew she was lying. Having spent enough time with her in this homey office, with beige walls, pretty green and purple plants, and of course the princess in it as well, I would know how she expressed herself.

From anger, to annoyance, to pleasure. Hence, I knew very well she was lying. I’d seen that face a bit way too much the entire week, and I was sick of it.

“Is that so? You can surely cancel it and say you have a much more important meeting to attend to right now,” I said as I turned to face her. Her big eyes stared at me, surprised, as I took slow steps closer to her. “Right, Naomi?”

“I-I really can’t,” she stammered and closed her eyes, as if she were annoyed with herself. “This meeting is important.”

“And my sessions aren’t?” I shot back, my annoyance growing stronger because she just wouldn’t admit the truth to me. What had happened to the woman who was unwavering in her honesty and blatantly told me that she fucking hated me and that I was an unbearable person to be around? That hurt as well!

“That isn’t what I’m saying,” she said, defending herself. “Your times just coincide with my appointments, and I can’t move the times around.”

“You’re lying,” I told her as I crossed my arms over my chest. WHY IS SHE FUCKING LYING? “Everyone knows you’re meticulous and you plan your own timetable; everything else just fits around your schedule.” I shrugged as I looked down at her.

She had taken off her coat, and I was blessed with the view of her dress that hugged every curve of her body and really left nothing to imagination. I was not complaining, but I didn’t want anybody else to see her like this. Just like the day of the game, she had come dressed in her little tight corset with her cleavage on display for everyone to see, and her little jeans that hugged her curvaceous hips… Of course I’d had to hide it all from the creeps that were always leering at women at those games.

And I was one of them—fuck.

“Why have you been avoiding me, Naomi?” I asked as I tilted my head to the side. “Especially after we had sex. You ran away.” She quickly covered my mouth with her small hand, and I tried to stop myself from smiling, but her expression was everything.

“Don’t say that,” she whispered through clenched teeth. “Ever.”

Oh, so she still lives.

Her wild look was a huge turn-on, but I was still pissed. I didn’t mind it when people left me alone, but after all she had done to make sure she’d grown under my skin and then decided to bolt, it pissed me off.

As I nodded my head, she reluctantly moved her hand from my lips, and I smiled as I leaned down closer to her, whispering.

“So, why are you running away from me?”
