“Open your eyes, babydoll,” I command.

“Oh, wow.” She smiles at the view, and I punch my digits harder and faster as the coaster descends down the track. My stomach drops and her muscles tighten around my fingers, squeezing so motherfuckin’ tight. Her dark hair blows all around me as I kiss her plump lips. There’s nothing sweeter or better than my babydoll.

She makes me want everything I thought I didn’t deserve. She’s a goddamn dream come true, and I know I’m going to do whatever it takes to keep her. To make her mine and bind her to me in every way possible.

If I have to knock her up to do it, I’m going to have her saying yes to marrying me.

I know she’s scared, but I’m going to prove it to her that I’m not the man I once was.

Ember’s awoken something inside me I thought was dead and gone.

I want to come home to her cooking dinner in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant. Cliche as hell, but that’s what I want. My good girl is eager to please me and be rewarded in return.

I can tell she’s close to getting off, but I don’t let her. I remove my fingers from her honey hole, earning me an angry expression.

She better get used to it. The day has barely started. Bringing my fingers to my nose, I breathe her in, loving the scent of her arousal coating my skin.

“Stop that.” She grabs my hand, pulling it down between her legs. “Why don’t you announce to everyone what we we’ve been doing?” Her cheeks glow pink.

I open my mouth like I’m about to do exactly that as the ride comes to an end. She clamps her other hand to my lips, and I laugh.

“Trust me. They already know.” I help her out of the car, noting how her legs wobble. “How about some cotton candy?”

Her eyes light up and I know I’m forgiven.

At the concession area, I can’t help but observe Prez with his kids. The twins Jovie and Jarod. Murder is one tough SOB, but when it comes to his woman and his children, he’s a big teddy bear. Alexa is with him every step of the way. I want what they have.

Prodigy, my best friend and Ember’s brother, follows my gaze.

“You ready for that? Or better question is, do you think Ember is?”

I find her in the crowd helping Jules with her and Roane’s youngest and smile. “Without a doubt. You don’t agree?” My babydoll looks damn good with a baby on her hip. Picture perfect. She catches my stare and smiles big.

“I’m not saying you won’t make great parents when the timing is right, but she’s young, man.”

He doesn’t have to remind me of our age gap. I’ve got seventeen years on her, but I also don’t want to be fifty with a newborn. Though I guess Ember could argue she doesn’t want to be a mother before she’s twenty.

“Did she say something?”

“No, but if you push too hard and fast, she’ll run. That’s what brought her here in the first place. Not wanting to marry an old man and pop out babies right away. She needs to find herself and live a little more.”

While that may be true, there’s a difference. The man she was supposed to marry wasn’t me. Things are different. Ember loves me and I’m a fucking fool for her. I’ll do anything to keep her.

She can do all the living she wants as long as it’s with me.

“Look, you know I’m cool with you two together. You’ve got time, is all I’m saying.”

“What are you two bitches over here flapping your jaws about?” Sandman joins us as he munches on a corn dog. “Looking all serious like a bunch of chicks.”

“Talking about how good your mom is at giving head,” Viking says, coming up behind him, wrapping him in a headlock that nearly as him choking as he drops the rest of his corn dog. “Always knew you’d go out choking on a wiener.” He chuckles, shoving him away.

Sandman spits his food toward us.

“Worse than children,” Zoe notes as Prodigy slides an arm around her waist. The way he looks at her is the way I look at his sister. I can understand his reservations. They may share DNA, but he doesn’t know her like I do.

We stand around bullshitting for a few more minutes before breaking off into groups to enjoy the rides some more. Ember and I do the log ride with Jimmy and Sabrina, who are still bickering to the point I’m ready to throw them in the lake where the paddle boat swans are.

“Be nice,” Ember warns as I shoot daggers at the pair of them as they walk in front of us. I don’t even know what they are arguing about, but that mouth on her isn’t helping his cause to earn his patch. “Brina has a lot going on.”
