“Green lentils, large bag?—”

“What?”

It’s then I realise Gabriel has stopped and is staring down at me.

“You said green lentils. Leah. Are you sure everything’s okay?” Concern crosses his face. “I can stop.”

Oh no, did I actually say that out loud?

“Everything is fine. I was trying to distract myself.” I say.

“Distract yourself?” Gabriel doesn’t wait for my reply. Instead, he pulls out of me and rolls onto his back. His arm covers his eyes.

I miss his body already. What the hell just happened?

“What? Why?” I roll onto my side to face him.

Gabriel sits up, and swings his legs over the side of the bed. “Look, Leah, we can wait. I don’t want you doing something you’re uncomfortable with. You should have just said.” I watch in horror as he reaches down and grabs his shorts from the floor.

“What? No? Oh, shit,” I say.

Gabriel turns to face me. “Did you just say shit?” he asks.

“I did,” I say sheepishly.

His expression softens. “Look, we don’t need to do this. I shouldn’t have suggested it.”

“You’ve got it all wrong,” I say, realising I’ve hurt him.

“I don’t think I have. Leah. You were reciting a shopping list with my cock buried balls deep in your pussy.”

I reach up, placing a finger over his lips. “Nothing was wrong. I promise.” Could this get any more embarrassing? “I was reciting a recipe?—”

“And that’s supposed to make me feel better?” he raises a brow, and I smile.

“No, but it’s the reason why,” I say. I drop my gaze. “This is embarrassing.”

“Leah, either spit it out, or I’m going to leave. We can wait until next month. Go to a clinic.”

“Fine,” I say, knowing I sound a little huffy. “It felt good. Not just good—amazing. In fact. I was distracting myself, so I didn’t.”

“Didn’t what?”

“Are we really going there?” I ask.

“If we’re doing this, then yes. We are going to be completely honest with one another. I’m not going to force myself on you. I’m your boss, for goodness sake.”

“And there lies the problem,” I say, my temper rising. “How can you say you forced yourself onto me? I was directing proceedings.”

“What do you mean?”

I throw myself back onto the pillow and cover my eyes. I sense Gabriel move and know he’s spun himself around to face me.

“Ahhh,” I yell. “Fine. If you want to know, it felt good, very good. I was trying to trick my brain into not enjoying it.” I open my eyes and face him. “Happy now? I was trying to remain professional, damn it, clinical.”

He looks confused. “What’s wrong with you enjoying it?”

I sigh. “Nothing. Except you’re my boss, and tomorrow morning, I’ll be in a meeting with you, thinking about how it felt to have you slide in and out of me. How my body—” I stop when I notice his eyes darken. “That’s not what this is supposed to be. This is not what we agreed.”
