“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked cautiously.

“Sure.” She lifted her delicate eyebrows and folded her arms across her chest. “You first.”

“I … pardon?”

“Yeah.” She stalked toward him, unfolded her arms, and shoved at his chest with both of her hands.

“Sweetheart?” He wrapped his hands around hers and held them loosely against his chest. “What’s going on? What do you need?”

“You would like to know what I need?”

“Yes.” She hadn’t been upset like this since the first day. What had spurred it? Had her memory returned? Maybe she was crying because she knew she’d have to leave him? That tugged at his heart but didn’t fit with her asking him to go first.

“If I tell you what I need, will you grant my wish, cowboy?”

Her hands were clasped in his, and he gently ran his thumbs across the back of them. She trembled visibly.

“Of course I will. I’d do anything for you.” Anything? What if she ‘needed’ him to kiss her? He hoped she’d ask. He couldn’t refuse her then. His pulse sped up at the very thought.

She studied him and he could see it in her eyes. She needed him. Would she continue to need him or was it only because of her situation?

“Never mind.” She yanked her hands free and moved to step around him.

“Jacey.” He wrapped his hand around her waist, turning her toward him. “Please. I want to help.”

“I know you do.”

She worried her lip, and his muscles tightened in response. He wanted to fuse his lips with hers in the worst way.

“I refuse to guilt you into kissing me,” she gritted out, then her eyes widened at her admission.

Fire rushed through him. Cade framed her waist and hips with his palms. “Is that what you need from me?” he asked in a husky voice he hardly recognized.

She blinked up at him, then she slid her hands up around his neck. Cade’s nerve endings went into hyperdrive. Jacey. In his arms. An instant away from a kiss.

He had reasons not to kiss her. He couldn’t recall what they were.

Sure, he’d break in two when she left him, but that would probably happen regardless of whether they shared a beautiful exchange of kisses.

He’d treat her honorably. It couldn’t be taking advantage of the situation if she was asking him for the kiss. Could it? Heck if he knew.

“Cade,” she whispered, arching up onto tiptoes, her sweet breath tickling his chin and jawline.

Cade figured he should help her out. He slid his hands around to her lower back and urged her against his chest, melding their bodies together and bringing her mouth a breath away from his.

“I need you. Your kiss, your touch, all of you,” she said.

His breath was coming in quick pants and he knew he needed all of her too.

“I don’t have my memories, but I know you are the only man I’ve ever needed like this.”

Cade’s chest swelled and he tenderly kissed her cheek, just to the side of her mouth. She let out a sweet moan that about undid him. “Sweetheart. I don’t want you to regret this when you get your memory back. You might not need a simple cowboy anymore.”

Her blue eyes flickered with a feisty glare. “Cade. I don’t want my memory to return. I only want you.”

Then she arched up and fused their lips together.

Cade’s lips were lit with warmth and tingles, the need for Jacey burning brighter as he drank her in. The sweet taste of her lips filled him with a desire he’d never known. He wanted her to only want and need him. At this moment, fulfilling his dreams and desires as their lips danced a tantalizing tango, he didn’t know that he wanted her to get her memory back either.
