"I have some things to do so I'm going to let you rest here. If you need me, I'll be right over there." I pointed o my desk. "I won't leave without letting you know first."

Delancy nodded before closing his eyes.

I watched him for a moment and then got up and walked over to my desk. "Jake, why don't you pour us all a drink. I have to fax something real quick."

I brought up the account records and emailed them to Marcus and then faxed him the contract my grandfather had signed giving me Brooklyn. Once that was done, I picked up my phone and called him.

I knew it was in the middle of the night there, but I needed to make sure he received everything. When he didn't answer, I left him a message and told him to call me when he got the papers.

That was the best that I could do.

Jake set a drink down in front of me just about the time Hugo came in with a blanket. I didn't even have to ask him to spread it over Delancy. He already knew what I wanted.

There was a reason he was my right-hand man.

I took a sip of the drink Jake had poured me and then set my glass down on my desk and stared across my desk at two of my best friends. "My grandfather will probably be here in the morning."

"That's going to be fun," Jake said. "Are you going to meet with him?"

"Not if I can help it." I had no interest in seeing that man. "I told him he didn't have my permission to be in my territory."

Jake snorted. "You know he still thinks this is his territory."

"So he reminded me."

"What are you going to do?" Miles asked.

"I haven't figured that out yet," I replied. "I've informed Spain about what is going on, including the fact that my grandfather has been skimming off of the top. I don't think they are very pleased."

"Would you be?"

"No, and I hope they deal with him the same way I would deal with someone that was stealing from me, but it's out of my hands at this point. I may control Brooklyn, but that doesn't mean I can take him out without a whole lot of backlash falling on me."

"I suggest you call up a few more men if you can," Jake suggested. "If your grandfather already knows where you live, he is probably headed this way. You are going to need the extra security."

"You also might think about locking this place down," Miles added. "If you lived in Manhattan, I would tell you to get a condo in our building. Its security is state of the art."

I glanced at Hugo, giving him a nod. The man pulled out his cell phone as he started out of the room. I knew he'd gone to do what needed to be done.

"I don't know what to do now," I said. "I feel like this is a giant game of hurry up and wait and I don't like it."

"You are being as active as you can be, Alejandro," Jake stated. "You made things clear to your grandfather and to Spain and you are making sure Delancy is safe. Beyond that, what can you do?"

Damned if I knew.

"Alejandro?" Delancy's soft voice came from the couch.

"Go back to sleep, querido."

"What's that?" He pointed toward the cabinets behind me.

It took me less than a second after I turned and spotted a moving red dot on the cabinet door behind me to jump up from my chair and race across the room. The windows shattered as I ran past them.

"Get down!" I shouted as I grabbed Delancy and dragged him over the back of the couch. I pushed him down onto the floor and then covered him with my body.

"Jefe!" Hugo shouted as he slammed the door open.

"Get down," I shouted right back. "Someone is shooting at us."
