I pulled the transfer of power papers out of my breast pocket and handed them to Hugo. "Makes copies of these and then file the new company papers with the city, county, and state. I want everything transferred into my name as soon as possible. I also want all the bank accounts transferred as soon as possible. If nothing else, I can keep Martinez and my grandfather from getting their hands on anything."

"Has there been any word from Spain?" Hugo asked.

"Nothing yet, but Vinnie said he would talk to his grandfather and see what he could do. If I don't hear anything in the next couple of days, I'll call them myself."

"Do you think they will go for it?"

"God willing." I sighed heavily as if the weight of the world was resting on my chest, and it might be. If I could deal directly with Spain and cut my grandfather's control over Brooklyn, it would make my life so much easier.

And probably longer.

"Have you got the new guys set up?" I asked.

Hugo nodded. "Si, Jefe."

That was a relief.

"The ten men I've chosen have been fully vetted by me. Surprisingly, they are highly trained. I did not expect that of Martinez's men. Most of them are idiots."

"As long as they are loyal idiots, I don't care. I just want the men guarding home base to be the best." I glanced at Delancy. "I want the best guarding my new husband."

Delancy snorted. "Keep me prisoner, you mean."

I chuckled with delight. "Same thing."

Delancy huffed as he crossed his arms and glanced toward the window. My chuckle turned into laughter as I grabbed him and hauled him onto my lap, wrapping my arms tightly around his.

"You see that, Hugo? Mi dulce chico is mad at me."

"Si, Jefe."

Delancy's eyes almost rolled out of his head.

It was cute.

"Not to worry, mi amor," I said. "I will make you happy when we get home."

Delancy's eyes snapped to mine. "What is that supposed to mean?"

I just smirked and lowered my arm to pat Delancy's ass and give it a good squeeze. Pretty sure he understood my unspoken words when he gasped and his eyes rounded.

"Tonight is our wedding night, querido. Shouldn't we enjoy it together?"

"You don't think I'm going to...?"

I arched an eyebrow.

Delancy flattened his hands on my chest and tried to push himself away. Considering I had both of my arms wrapped around him and I was pinning his upper arms to his sides, he didn't get far.

"We will be home soon," I stated. "We can talk about it then."

"I just met you," Delancy insisted. "There's no way I would..." He started shaking his head. "I don't even know you."

"And yet, you married me."

"I had no choice."

"Neither did I," I replied. "So, why don't the two of us make the best of the situation we are in and help each other out?"
