“Lee?” I shrieked. “The woman who thinks the world is about to end? The woman who acts so fucking depressed I want to shoot myself?”

“Apparently, she’s really kinky in bed,” Sarah smirked.

“I can be kinky in bed. Hell, I could go to the store and buy handcuffs.”

“I think it’s a little more than that.”

Huffing, I sat back in my chair. “Fine, then I can get whips and chains. I can do anything he wants.”

“I thought you didn’t want him.”

“Well, no, but I don’t want her to have him either. He was mine first.”

“Until you pushed him aside.”

“I didn’t push him aside. I was…playing hard to get. He was supposed to chase after me. He was supposed to see what he was missing and realize the only way to get me was to shower me with kisses and promises of amazing sex!”

“I don’t think he got the message,” she chuckled.

Now, I was stewing in anger as I got my nails done, which was not conducive to relaxing. I leaned back and placed cucumbers on my eyes, but even with the cooling slices on my face, all I could see was that bitch having her way with my man. Who did she think she was? What made her so special that she could just walk up to my man and decide to take something that didn’t belong to her?

“Ugh!” I sat up in frustration, pulling my toes away from the lady currently rubbing lotion into my legs. “That’s it. We have to go.”

“But I’m still getting my nails done.”

“Too bad!” I said, standing and pulling the toe separators from my feet. I tossed them in the water basin and slid my feet into my sandals. “We need to leave now.”

“Miranda—”

“Don’t you dare argue with me,” I jabbed a finger at her. “This is your fault.”

“How is it my fault?”

“Because you brought hot men into my life. I was perfectly fine with ordinary men who disappointed me on a regular basis. Now, all I can see are defined abs and muscular thighs. I can’t get that from just anyone. And if I don’t hurry, I’m going to lose my man to someone who would rather talk about the world coming to an end. If that happens, you might as well shoot me where I stand.”

“I think you’re being a bit dramatic,” she laughed.

I stomped around to her chair and pulled her up by her elbow.

“Ow! Ow! What are you doing?” she cried.

“Getting your ass moving. We have a hot man to trap.”

“I already have a hot man.”

“But I don’t—and if I don’t, you won’t be happy. That’s how friendship works.”

She snorted. “It would have been nice if someone had told me that.”

As she got her stuff together, I went to the front and paid for our pedicures. Finished or not, I still had to pay the full price. Besides, it wasn’t their fault I ran out in the middle. If only I had discussed this with Sarah before our pedicure, then I wouldn’t have to come back tomorrow to get this one fixed.

“Ready?” I asked as she walked toward me with a glare on her face.

“I only have one foot painted.”

“Well…you can do another color tomorrow when we come back.”

“I’m not coming back with you. You’re psychotic.”
