“Hey, Larry, we have a problem. There’s a douche on my property. He somehow got the code to my gate and entered illegally. My investigator was tailing him because he was stalking my guest at my house, and we were out of the house when he showed up.”

“I can get him on a lot of charges as long as the cameras show him entering the estate. Do you know this man?”

“I’ve never met this fucker.”

“Did your guest invite him?”

“No,” she says, nearly hollering in offense.

“How did he know you’d be there? I’m not judging, but I’m asking because it matters for legal reasons.”

“My mother told him where to find me.”

“Then I’m assuming you gave her the gate code.”

“No, my father must have. They’re married, but it doesn’t matter because none of them own the property, and I didn’t invite any of them.”

“That’s correct. So, on top of stalking charges, we’ll be able to charge him with trespassing.”

“Good, the more we can get him for the better.” I ended the call with him after asking him to meet me at the house. “Are you okay?”

“I’m as good as I can be. Honestly, I don’t want to see him, but I’m guessing there’s not much I can do about it.”

“It would be best if you were there to gauge his reaction to you. A bastard crazy enough to come after you, knowing that it was illegal only a few days ago, might not be willing to act rationally even in front of the police.”

She gasps. “Don’t worry, Summer. I won’t let him hurt you.”

When I pull through my driveway, the police have it blocked off, and there is the asshole with the cops trying to explain himself. My investigator is talking to another officer as I come to a stop. I step out, and they put their hands up. “Stay in the car for now.”

“I’m Drake Daniels, the owner,” I inform them. “I want that man arrested for trespassing and stalking. My lawyer is on his way here right now.”

“Like I told them, I haven’t committed any crimes. This is a misunderstanding. My ex-wife told me I could see my stepdaughter.”

“You lying piece of shit. There’s no misunderstanding. Summer told me that she was afraid of you. That’s why she ran away this morning when she realized you were on your way here. How much did you pay her for her daughter?” I raise my brows. “Huh? Because she told me that you wanted her virginity. Well, you’re too late for that.” I guess that broke him because he lunged at me, but the cops immediately restrained him.

“She’s mine. I’ve been waiting for her.”

“You’re a sick fuck. Summer is only eighteen. How long have you been waiting,” my investigator says. “My records indicate she ran away at sixteen from your home. Sixteen.”

“Summer, tell them. Tell them you love me,” he says, looking past me toward the vehicle. I stand in front of him.

“You don’t fucking speak to her, or I’ll forget the cops are here and beat the shit out of you.” Suddenly, the cops turn around and I smirk. My fist lands on Scott’s face, sending him to the pavement.

“Oh, I can’t believe he got away from us like that, Mr. Daniels,” the cops said, picking him up off the ground. “We’ll take him away from here and write up the report.” He walks him to the squad car which is on the opposite side of my car so he can’t see Summer. I’d hate for that bastard to get a free look at my woman. She doesn’t need that added torture.

“Thank you.”

“I have a sixteen-year-old daughter.”

“My ex just remarried, and I hate the bastard, but we thankfully didn’t have any kids.”

“I need to save my father from her mother.” I tilt my head toward the vehicle where Summer’s waiting for me.

“Interesting,” the lead cop with the ex-wife says, taking a look at her.

“Tell me about it. Technically, Summer’s my stepsister now.”

“Well, if your father has any brains, not for long.”
