“Show me how badly you want me to touch you... To fuck you... C’mon, Harper... Show me, for fuck’s sake.”

I pulled him close and after I fused my mouth to his, I reached between us to grab his cock. He wasn’t the only one who could multitask. As I surrendered to his wicked tongue, I finally adjusted my body enough to take him inside. I had him lined up and just when I was about to lower myself onto him, he pulled his head away. I was suddenly scared he had changed his mind.

“Please don’t stop.”

“Stop?” he questioned, then grinned as he placed his hands on my shoulders. “I couldn’t stop even if I wanted to, Harper. I love you.”

With those final words, he slammed me down on him and I had to remember to breathe. “I love you—”

That was all I managed to get out before he seized my mouth once again, then started to fuck me. His thrusts were powerful, hard, rough, and dare I say punishing. I knew we still had a lot to talk about, but that could wait for another time. He was still angry at me, and outside of last night, every other time we’d had sex since my return to Chicago, it’d been like this. As I had done then, I shattered for him just the same.

Stars danced in my vision as my orgasm nearly wrecked me. Wave after wave of pleasure swept over me, but he never slowed his thrusts in speed or intensity. When his mouth wasn’t plastered against mine, he was suckling on my neck or my nipples, and each sensation kept my climax going as he rolled me from one into another.

As his thrusts turned erratic, I knew he was close. I could feel it with every movement of his, and I clamped my inner walls around him. “You’re mine, goddammit,” he swore, punctuating it with another hard thrust.

“I’m yours,” I told him, then cried out as he latched onto my neck and bit his way from my throat to my collarbone.

His hands moved back to them. “I’m not letting you go,” he told me, possibly in warning, before he slammed me down a final time.

Gabriel’s head dropped back as his seed erupted from inside of him.

HARPER

WASHINGTON D.C.

The train ride had gone by in a blur as the two of us alternated between sex, sleep, and an hour or so for dinner. I had no idea where we were at that time, but someone said something about Ohio, and it made my anxiety flare up.

Gabriel knew how nervous I was, and to his credit, he’d done everything he could to alleviate my fears. He felt as if they were unfounded, but I knew better. He assumed my uncle was the man seen in pictures, and in his living room that fateful day, but he was wrong. I experienced the evil George was firsthand, and I had to focus so I could find what I needed to end his wrath of terror once and for all.

“You’ve been quiet ever since we got to the hotel, Harper.”

I didn’t want to weigh him down with my regret. That was something I had to shoulder on my own. “I think I’m just tired.”

I saw the corner of his lip quirk and I knew he wanted to smirk because he’d been the physical reason for my lack of sleep, but he’d also been the mental one, too.

“I could go and meet Cliff myself, or else I could ask him to meet us later so you can stay here and take a nap.”

I shook my head. “That’s not necessary. The sooner we get your father’s things, the sooner I can find whatever it is he had on my uncle. I need for this to be over. I can sleep later.”

“Okay,” he told me, then pulled me into his arms. I laid my head against his chest and closed my eyes until he started to speak again. “We’re in this together, Harper. I won’t let anyone hurt you anymore.”

I wanted to tell him that his nonchalance over his own safety could be his downfall, and that his demise would hurt me more than anything else, but I just nodded and let out a sigh.

“We should go.”

When we’d arrived at Washington Union Station, Gabriel had a rental car lined up and reservations at the Conrad. I didn’t know if he’d made them while on the train, or before we even got to the station back in Chicago, but I was glad he’d done so. No one could’ve known we would’ve taken the Amtrak so my paranoia was likely for nothing. Knowing that still didn’t curb my fear about leaving the hotel.

Was Gabriel’s ‘Cliff’ being watched? Would someone attack us to get Franklin’s belongings?

They were all valid questions I had no answers for. Gabriel released me from his hold, then kissed the top of my head.

“We’re just going to pick up the boxes, then we’re coming back here. We can order in dinner, and I’ll try to not ravish you so much tonight.”

I smiled at the last part knowing neither of us could keep our hands off of the other. I wanted to say that he was more demanding, but recent flashbacks begged to differ.

I shouldn’t even be letting my libido control anything, but it’d been so long since we’d seen and been with one another that it was almost like making up for lost time. Being with him, no matter how surly his mood was at times, seemed to center me in some strange way. I needed him, and for more than the physical.

“I actually like the ravishing part,” I pointed out, and he smiled at me with that same boyish smile I used to see when we were younger.
