“First let me introduce you to my dad. He’s going to handle all the security.”

“Dad, this is Enea Mancini, Lorenzo, Salvatore and Niccolò. This is my dad, Scott.”

Enea shakes my dad’s hand first.

“It’s nice to meet you. And thank you for coming down to help us with security. The fans are getting more aggressive now that the band is becoming more well known,” my dad explains.

“I was a fan of yours and the original Twisted Bonds.” Enea smiles. “I think your children are doing your legacy proud.”

“Thank you, I think so too.”

“Okay, so where do you need my boys? I want them to get the layout down. And I talked to Giacomo Bastianini and he said they’re on their way too.”

“I want one or two of them on this door. This is the only way in or out of the back area dressing rooms. I’d like the rest of them to be watching the crowd. There’s been a lot of women that try to get on the stage to get to the boys. And now even the men are doing it, trying to get to my girls. I don’t want my kids to be worrying about these fans while they’re playing.”

“Okay, I’ll have my men take a walk around. What time does the show start?”

“We have a little over an hour. Are all three of them your sons?”

Enea chuckles. “No, Lorenzo is mine, Salvatore is my nephew and Niccolò is with the Southside Mafia. But he is family.”

“I thought my boys were big, yours make mine look small.” Scott laughs.

“We eat our veggies,” Lorenzo chimes in. “We’re going to take a look around. Make sure there’s no areas that people can get in.”

“Thank you,” Scott says.

My dad and Enea start talking about the original Twisted Bonds so I take that as a sign to find my girl. I sneak up behind her and pick her up. Which gets me a cross between a scream and a squeak.

I laugh as I turn her around and kiss her.

“That’s mean. You can’t come up behind me like that.” She laughs.

“Of course I can,” I tease her. “Thank you again for calling your friends about security. I know my dad feels a lot better now.”

“You know I’d do anything for you, Jagger. And if I’m honest? It makes me feel better too. Like your dad, I’ve noticed some of the fans, men and women are getting more aggressive. And it was starting to make me nervous.”

“Yeah, we were talking about that the other day. I was concerned about Lennon and Marley, there was that one guy who jumped up on stage and grabbed Lennon the last show. That pissed me off.”

“Hopefully we can figure out a plan for them to do security all the time. Looks like you’re going to be needing it.”

“You’ll protect me, right?” I give her a cheesy smile.

“You’re a goof.” She snorts.

I hug her tight. “I love you, Quinn.”

“I love you, Jagger. You’re the dream I never knew I wanted.”

This woman has taken my heart. My whole fucking heart and I don’t want her to ever give it back.

Chapter Eight

Jagger

I’m keeping something from Quinn and I hate it. She knows that we’ve been receiving threats. What she doesn’t know is that this person claims they know her. I told my dad that I want to talk to Salvatore Mancini. He’s a Chicago police detective and he’s good friends with Quinn. I’m worried that whoever this is will try to hurt her. So far they’ve sent one letter saying that if I want to keep her safe, I need to pay what they ask. I need to talk to her and ask her if she’s received anything.

“Hey Quinn, you got a second to talk?” I ask her.
