“The feeling,” Linc said. “You want to blame me.”

“Isn’t that awful?”

“No. Shit got weird and I left. I had a prospect drop off groceries. I kind of look like I’m in hiding.”

“Linc…”

“I’m at Nova’s. She needed a shower and a change of clothes.”

“Right.”

“You know it’s not Nova. She’s the reason we all aren’t waking up in jail.”

“Unless that’s part of the plan.”

“Slade. That’s where the line is drawn. If you ever accuse Nova of being a rat again, I’ll fucking nail your tongue to a wall.”

“Noted,” Slade said.

Linc stood in the kitchen. He leaned against the counter.

“We have to be careful, Slade. More than we normally are. We have to keep prayer small. Contained.”

“That’s going to raise eyebrows.”

“Yes, it is.”

“Can’t have prayer with just you, me, Priest, and Prez. Those guys earned that spot.”

“One of them is a rat.”

“You think it’s a table member.”

“Think about the yellow bunny house discussion.”

“We had the entire clubhouse moving on it,” Slade said. “Running point and protection. It was bigger than we realize.”

Linc’s jaw tightened. Nova shuffled into the kitchen, wearing nothing but a blanket. Her sleepy eyes, sex hair and sweet smile made Linc smile.

“We have to keep things contained,” Linc said. “Maybe you’re right about prayer. How the fuck did this happen?”

“It happens, Linc. Won’t be the last time either. You know that. I’ve got to go.”

“Yup.”

The call ended. Linc tucked his phone into his back pocket.

“Did I interrupt?” Nova asked.

“No worries, darling. Get over here.”

Nova walked to Linc and he wrapped his arms around her. She cuddled up against his bare, muscular chest. For both it was heaven. They both wondered the same thing…

Can’t we just do this forever? Give up everything in life and just be together?

They both knew that was not possible. At all. Linc touched Nova’s face, making her look up at him.

“Going to be a crazy one again,” he whispered.
