Chapter 5

Braylen

What did the banana say to the vibrator?

Why are you shaking? She’s going to eat me!

Signing up for my own dating app was probably not the best idea, but all of my reservations go out the window when her profile comes up.

There is no photo; I want to have matches based solely on the answers the users provide in the questionnaire.

It's obvious she’s had help filling the questions out, but she sounds fun, and I’m a sucker for a microwave cheese sandwich.

No one else gets to see who their match is, but after I ended up on a date with a woman who could only talk about how hot her stepdad is. I hightailed it out of there before she could try to call me Daddy.

“Mr. Carnes,” my assistant knocks on my door, bringing me out of my thoughts of the tempting hairdresser. According to the app, her name is Cherry. Not exactly traditional, but it suits her.

I wonder if she tastes as sweet or as sour as one.

“Come in, Lucas,” I call out, closing my laptop so I don’t lose focus while he tells me about my day.

The lure of her profile is far too tempting.

“I see you have a date on Saturday, sir,” he says as he enters the room, tapping away on the tablet in his hands.

“I do. It seems my app has finally paid off.”

“You’ve been on dates before, haven’t you?” his head pops up, and his brown eyes squint in confusion.

He’s not wrong, but I don’t know how to tell him that this profile feels like the one. I finally feel hopeful instead of sad and lonely about going home to an empty penthouse.

I might be rich, but I don’t have that someone I can come home to at night and sink my peen between their folds until they are clamping around me and screaming my name in ecstasy.

“Yes, but they somehow always turn out to be a disaster,” I tell him instead.

“I understand, sir. Maybe this date will be different.” I certainly fucking hoped so. “Now, for your meetings today, we have those potential investors and then the designers at two,” he tells me, always efficient.

I would be lost without him and always late for my meetings. He’s my right hand, and I really should give him another raise.

“Thank you, Lucas. Can you let me know when the investors arrive? I have some other business to care of until then.”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Perfect, thank you,” I say, dismissing him swiftly.

Lucas closes the door to my office, and I waste no time opening my laptop. I pull up her profile once again, trying to memorize every word until I can see her.
