Chapter 23

Cherry

What goes in hard and dry but comes out soft and hard?

Chewing Gum.

“You fucking bitch!” Jade screams from the entrance to my salon. “I thought you were dead!”

“Very much alive,” I snark. “Can’t get rid of me that easily.”

“No shit. Why the fuck didn’t you tell me you were going on a date with Braylen Nunny!” She screams, her hands wrap around my forearms, and she shakes me violently.

“Who? And get the fuck off me, you look insane.”

“Braylen. The CEO of the app that we signed up for?'' She looks at me like I’m the crazy one, but I have no clue what she’s on about; Braylen’s rich, sure, but surely he would’ve mentioned that we were on the date because of his app.

“No…”

“Yes! Look!” She shoves her phone in my face, and right there in front of me is Braylen and me, arms linked.

BILLIONAIRE CEO OF CUMMIES4DUMMIES FINALLY OFF THE MARKET?

Did his app finally find him love?

I’m going to be sick.

It’s not just the face I’ve been photographed with a fucking billionaire. The other three surround me, and while I think it’s a cute photo, I’m not ready to deal with what this means.

“Hey Cherry, breathe!” Jade says, appearing in front of my face. “It’s not a big deal, I swear.”

“It’s such a big deal. I look like a slut,” I cry, burying my face in my hands.

Thank god my next client hasn’t appeared yet.

“So? Be a slut. Did you have fun last night?”

I nod.

“Then that’s all that matters. Plus, they seem like they are already in love with you by the look of this photo,” she thrusts the phone back into my face.

My phone pings frantically in my pocket.

When I pull it out, I see messages from my Mom, Dad, Braylena, the others, and even my brother.

I ignore them all – too overwhelmed to deal with any of them right now.

“I need to dye my hair,” I mutter, already eyeing the hair color bottles on the shelf.

A crazy coping mechanism I developed after everything went down with my brother and Ronan. I had no control over that situation, and after I found them, I felt like I was spiraling; dyeing my hair in different crazy colors was the only way I felt like I had any control at that time.

“Come on,” she sighs, hauling me up. “What color?”

I grab a bottle from the shelf with a grin, “This one.”

I can’t stop staring at the color that covers my hair.

No more rainbow. I’m now a bright redhead, a very vibrant red that looks like a stop sign.
