“Nothing is over, bed bug,” I say firmly, tipping her chin so she has to look at me. “We’re healthy, we’re happy, we’re loaded.” I tap her nose. “We’re perfect, and we still have at least thirty good years in us, don’t we?”

Story sighs and nods.

“You’re right.” She bites her lip, her perfectly white dentures digging into her collagen-depleted skin. “But—”

“But what?” I murmur, pulling her lip free. “What’s wrong?”

She shrugs and points to her hips. “I’ll really miss this.”

I tilt my head. “Miss what? Possibly getting knocked up?”

Her cheeks turn pink. “No,” she whispers. “Being filled with your spunk.”

I narrow my eyes and roll her to her back, leaning over her. “What did I tell you the night we met? What did I promise you then and remind you of on our wedding day in my vows?”

Her delicate throat bobs as she swallows. “That you’ll always keep me creamy.”

“And I will until the day I stop breathing,” I vow, pressing my lips to hers.

We fall into a heated, passionate kiss that’s over all too soon when my lungs ache for oxygen. I really shouldn’t have gotten into vaping in my thirties. I wince. It was just a short phase and Story nearly killed me when she found out.

“I love you, Freddikins,” she whispers. “I love you so much.”

Smiling, I let the sight of her all too familiar eyes pull me into the past. Every time I fall into their brown depths, I’m reminded of the night we met and the moment I truly fell in love for the first and last time. When Story pushed the buttplug from her gaping starfish like the warrior she is, I knew she was my forever.

I brush a kiss to her lips. “And I love you, bed bug. From now, and for eternity.”

I may have hoped my life was destined for greatness, but I never expected it would be the love of an incredible woman and the twenty-two children she blessed us with. They went on to have over a hundred kids themselves, and now, we have the massive family we’d always dreamt of.

We’re insanely happy. It’s a blessing. A miracle.

And to think, it all started with a butterfly and a puppy pad.

The End.
