Chapter Eleven

Acacia

When Callum said I would be sore the next day, I should have believed him. Every time I shift in my chair, I have to hold back my gasp at the ache between my legs.

Malissa sighs loudly beside me, the third time she’s done it in the past ten minutes.

“Are you okay?” I ask her, glancing at her.

“Are you?” she replies, blinking wildly at me with a tight smile.

I tilt my head to the side, studying her face. “Yes…”

She hums, her eyes slowly dragging down my body and up to my red face. I hate how I can’t control my damn blushing. “Yeah, I bet you are.”

My breath catches for a second, but there’s no way she could know. After we woke up in his bed, we rode over together to the gym. Callum has been in his office since Malissa arrived.

“What does that mean?” I say.

She crosses her arms, pushing out her bottom lip in a large pout. “You’re really not going to tell me?”

“H-how do you know?” I ask, dropping my shaking hands into my lap.

She smiles. “After sex glow, it’s a thing. And plus you’re struggling to sit right, which can only mean you forced that Pringle can up your hooha.”

My eyes widen, and I grab her arm to sink my nails into. “Lower your voice. I don’t know if Callum wants anyone to know about us.”

Malissa throws her head back and laughs. “Hey Callum!” she shouts, and I let out a strangled hiss. “What are you doing?”

The door of the office opens and he stares down at us. “What?”

“You hurt her and I’ll cut off your balls, capeesh?”

His eyes narrow, darting between us, and then he nods before shutting the door. My mouth drops open and then I glare at her. “Why would you do that? That’s so embarrassing.”

Malissa shrugs her shoulders and then smiles. “Acacia, the only one who doesn’t realize how far gone he is for you, is you.”

I scrunch my nose and swallow down the insecurity leaking into my chest. “Still, maybe he wanted to wait to make that announcement himself.”

She snorts. “Do you want me to call him back?”

“No!” I glance back at the stairs. My cheeks burn when I think about the conversation we had. “You’re right. It’s just hard—it’s crazy he wants me.”

Malissa scrunches her nose. “Babe, I wish you could see what we see.”

I sigh. “Me too.”

Moving her chair closer to me, my best friend blinks up at me with wide eyes. “Now tell me everything about last night.”

“You want to know something kind of weird?” I ask, then immediately want to take back.

Callum looks up from his desk. We’re still at the gym. He had to go through some reports after closing. I’m resting on his couch and even the cleaning crew has come and gone. Our dinner from an hour ago is now empty boxes stuffed in the trash.

“What, baby?” he says.

I blush, fanning the heat of my cheeks. “Nevermind. I think it’s a little TMI.”

His eyebrow raises. “TMI? After everything we did last night?”
