His fingers slid through her hair so he could cup the back of her head. “Fuck, I’m not going to last, Sugar.”

If anything, she became more forceful. He tried once to pull her away from him, but her grip on his cock just tightened further.

“Fuck, I’m going to come, and I want you to take every drop I give you.”

She didn’t acknowledge him, but he could tell she went a bit faster, trying to give him pleasure.

“That’s it. Now swallow,” he barked as his cum shot from his cock and down her throat. It seemed to go on forever, and by the time she’d gotten the last drop, it felt like his legs wouldn’t hold him up. He locked his knees to keep himself on his feet and not embarrass himself by dropping to the ground.

The biggest emotion racing through him was the most disconcerting. He thought he was obsessed with her before, but it had gone to a deeper level. He knew he’d never be whole again if she weren’t in his life, which terrified him.

He never wanted to depend on anyone. That way, he didn’t get hurt or have to deal with all the bullshit emotions.

When he focused on her, his heart felt like it would explode. He’d never seen anything as beautiful as she was in that moment. Her face was flush with desire. Her lips were swollen and red from sucking him off, and her eyes were hot with need.

At that moment, he couldn’t deal with all the emotions, and when he was pushed, he always fought it. He tucked his cock away and zipped up.

“You did good, Sugar.”

He hated to see the light dim in her eyes, but he couldn’t help but push her away until he knew what the fuck was going on and how to deal with it.

He held out his hand to her, which she reached for. When he helped her to her feet, he released her and stepped back.

“So, if we’re finished here, I’ve got a lot to do,” he said.

He wanted to yell at her when he saw her shut down and was trying to hide the hurt he caused.

“No,” she said and cleared her throat. “I’ll leave you to it. Have a great night.”

Without another word, she turned and walked out of the house and to her car. He stood in the doorway, waiting for her to say anything, but he was disappointed to see her just drive away without looking at him once.

Even though he had pushed her away, the fact that she went without a fight pissed him off. It didn’t make sense to him, and he had no idea how to deal with it. He went out into the backyard to work on the bushes he’d been trimming when she got there. He needed something to keep his mind off her.

It was several minutes later when he realized he hadn’t kissed her. He’d been around her three different times and had yet to reach out, yank her into his arms, and kiss her until they were both breathless. It was something else he’d dreamed of often.

Jared had no idea how late it was when he finally stopped working in the backyard and went to bed. He was feeling better, but he still had a way to go. He was always getting stronger but still frustrated that he wasn’t at his best and might never be again.

Three days passed without a word from Skye, and it was slowly driving him crazy. He had no idea why he expected her to come to him again. She’d been nothing but sweet and giving, and he’d pushed her away again. The possibility that she’d finally had it and no longer wanted to be with him crossed his mind a few times, and he got a little angrier.

He thought about stopping by the bakery again, but he wanted his hands on her the next time he saw her. As scary as it was to let her in, the thought of never having her terrified him. It was like the nightmare he’d had so many times that there would be no one to care if he lived or died, and the thought depressed him even more.

He couldn’t let her go, ever. He knew that when he came back, and the fact she was single and still wanted him told him he’d made the right choice to move home. So now he had to figure out how to open himself up to her and stop bullying and being a prick.

Jared pulled up to Skye’s house and looked up at the second floor where her bedroom was. He inhaled to brace himself before he knocked on the door.

When the door opened, and an older woman stood there, he realized it must be her mother because the two had some resemblance.

“Is Skye here?”

The woman scowled. “Who the hell are you?”

“I’m a friend of Skye’s,” he said.

The woman snorted. “I doubt that.”

He gritted his teeth. “Well, you’ll just have to ask her.”
