I groan. “Don’t remind me.”

He kisses me with a chuckle. “It’s just one week.”

“We’ve never been apart that long before.”

“We’ll be all right.”

“I won’t be.”

He laughs. “Yes, you will. You’re Phoebe Pink. You’re the boss.”

“Yeah,” I say, playfully confident. “I’m the boss.”

“And sometimes, the boss has to go to Los Angeles and whip that branch into shape.”

“Yes, she does.” I kiss him, touching the scruff on his cheek. “I love you.”

“I love you,” he says, kissing me back. “Just one week, and then Valentine’s surprise.”

“Surprise, eh?”

He hums yes as he kisses my collarbone.

“You guys are gonna have to work extra hard to beat Christmas,” I say.

“Don’t you even worry about that, milady. Now, we have…” he glances at the clock, “forty-five minutes before we officially have to get out of this bed and I want to fill it with as much of you as possible.”

He disappears beneath the sheets.

“Oh, that’s not nearly enough time,” I joke.

“Best get started now, then.”

I laugh. Then I moan.

Chapter Fifteen

Phoebe

Jackie knocks twice on my office door before plowing inside. “Good news, boss lady,” she says with her eyes on her tablet. “We’ve got first-class seats and hotel rooms confirmed. This trip is gonna be in-sane!”

I glance up from my computer. “Rooms?”

“Rooms,” she says as she sits down in the chair in front of my desk.

“Plural?”

“Yeah,” she says. “Plural. Rooms. Yours and mine.”

“Why aren’t we sharing?” I ask, thinking about how I’ll have to explain that at my next quarterly budget meeting.

Her eyes roll. “Phoebe, I adore you, but there is no way I’m spending a week in a room alone with you while you play an endless game of ‘No, you hang up!’ with your two hot boyfriends. I’d rather hang myself. Besides, it’s a business trip,” she adds with a scoff.

“Meaning?”

“Meaning… business ladies by day, drinks and dancing at the hotel bar by night. You and I are going to tear Los Angeles apart.”

I release the sigh I’ve been building since she walked in. “Bar?” I ask. “Jackie, please tell me you didn’t book us two rooms at a Botsford Plaza.”
