Really? How can he flip a switch after that kiss? After having his head down there…that’s some mighty powerful self-control.

In the back of my mind, I remember the five-minute fiasco and tell myself that sex is not that great anyway. That doesn’t help this on-edge need for relief coiled deep inside my core though.

Not brave enough to finish the job myself, I huff out a silent irritated sigh.

He can’t just start something like that and abruptly turn it off! And if he can, he needs to teach me how to do it!

I lay with my head on his chest for what seems like forever, until finally drifting off to sleep. It feels like my eyes just closed when Tekil shakes my shoulder.

“Myla, it is time to go.”

“W…what?” I stutter, blinking.

“The sun is setting; we need to go.”

“Go where?”

“To rescue the others.”

Slowly, I sit up and rub the sleep from my eyes. Tekil looks refreshed; I guess he rested well. At least one of us could.

Hastily, I start to crawl to the entrance.

“Myla.” I glance over my shoulder and see a pained look on his face. “I am sorry.”

My eyes rake over his neat appearance, and a wave of envy overtakes me. I’m still so confused.

“Why are we going now? I thought we were going to rest, eat, and gain our strength. We don’t even have a plan!”

“I am afraid they will move up the time table, and transfer the others.”

“Because we escaped?”

“Yes.”

“But still…wouldn’t it be better to wait one more day? And what about Andred?”

“Andred is unreliable. I think we can sneak in under the cover of darkness, and free the others before the Acradidia discover we are there. And then we will have help.”

Putting a little distance between us, I say dryly, “Let’s go rescue your team.”

Or die trying, I add silently.

As soon as I’m out of the sleeping canopy, I head into the woods to use the bathroom. What I really need is a bath, or a small pail of water to wash off.

I’m a little embarrassed by my actions last night. Without a second thought, I would’ve had sex with him, and I don’t even like sex. And who knows if he could’ve controlled those claws? Not to mention I don’t even know this man!

Just as I’ve finished doing my business, I round the tree and almost crash smack dab into Andred.

My hand flies to my chest, the breath rushing from my lungs. “You scared me.”

A grin spreads across his face. “You and Tekil seem to be getting well acquainted.”

I feel the heat rush to my cheeks.

“That is none of your business.” I try to step around but he blocks the way, forcing me back against a tree. “Are you trying to scare me?”

Trapping me against the tree with his arms, he leans in close and sniffs.
