Finally, they both collapsed onto the bed, spent and satiated. She laid her head on his chest, her heart racing from the intensity of the experience. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as they both caught their breath. They lay there, entwined, spent, and completely at peace.

“That,” she murmured, “was incredible.”

“It was great,” Beau said between breaths.

She looked over at him to see his chest heaving, and she reached her hand out to touch him. He looked at her and their eyes met, then he grinned, making her laugh.

“I can’t get over how much I’d been missing. Eric never made me feel that good, and he never had me begging. You, Beau McCallister, are no slacker in bed.”

“And you were worried you’d disappoint me.” He rolled to his side to face her and touched her cheek. “I’ve never had better.”

“What? I mean I haven’t, that’s for sure, but you were married for ten years.”

“Yes, and it was never this good. I think I’m going to enjoy seeing where this goes.”

“Will you stay?”

“Yes, but I have to leave early. I have to work in the barn.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Would you like to go for a ride?”

She smiled. “I just did.”

Beau laughed. “Yes, you did, but I meant horseback. You could come with me, and we can spend the day at my house. Maybe go riding.”

“I’d like that if, you’re sure.”

“Brenna, I wouldn’t have asked otherwise.”

She grinned. “I’d love to. Now, how about a shower?”

“Sounds good to me, as soon as I can get up.”

“I’ll meet you in there.” She got off the bed, walked to the bathroom door, and glanced back at him to see him watching her, then she entered the bathroom.

Chapter Five

Monday morning, Beau sat at his desk going through files on the computer, looking for any information that would help him find out who took the horse from the Lawrence ranch, and he was having no luck at all.

“Morning, Beau.”

He glanced up to see Killian taking a seat at his desk.

“Morning, Killian. Did you have a good weekend?”

“It was too fast but other than that, yes. How about you?”

“I had a great weekend,” Beau said with a grin.

“Good for you. I looked through real estate ads and saw a few houses I like. I just have to find out how far they are from work. I’m hoping I won’t be sitting in traffic to get to work in the mornings, like I did in Butte.”

“There’s not much traffic here in the mornings. The most traffic is heading out of town to the Beckett Boot Factory, Beckett Feed, and Callahan Distillery, but it’s in the opposite direction.”

“Beckett boots are made here? It’s the only boot I’ll wear.”

“Yes, it’s owned by Gage and JD Beckett. Ash Beckett owns the feed factory.”
