Something no one can ever take away.

“Wipe that grin off your face,” Noah teases in the morning. I’m still naked under the sheets with no intention of getting out of it any time soon.

“What are the chances I can convince you to play hooky with me?”

“Non-existent.”

I pout.

He sighs, giving in a little. “Slim.”

“Don’t you usually work from home anyway? Why not stay in bed with me?”

“Because I know you. Your idea of playing hooky sounds exciting and spontaneous but by ten o’clock, you’ll be in wedding planning mode and I’m going to go from ‘sex god’ to ‘honey do’ in no time. I’m making a clean break before that happens.”

I shrug. “Alright, fine. I’ll just have my own fun.”

Noah scans me on the bed with a look that is either appreciation or suspicion.

He turns, sweeping his eyes across the room and reaches for my tote bag, withdrawing the little pouch with my vibrator.

“I can’t tell if you’re serious, so I’ll hold onto this just in case.”

“Hey.”

He leans in for a kiss. “Keep that pussy nice and tight for me till I get back.”

My stomach flips as he pulls back and reaches for his blazer.

I scoff. “Jokes on you, that wasn't what I meant.”

That was totally what I meant. Not that I had intended on using it. Just to tease him with it because I know he hates that thing.

Last night was out of this world. My body is sore everywhere, but I feel amazing. I feel wildly exhilarated and spontaneous, but mostly, I feel like doing the one thing I never do—sleeping in.

Sure I might come to my senses in thirty minutes once Noah leaves and climb out of bed, but who's to say I can’t have some fun with him before he leaves?

“It wasn't huh?”

“You’re going to be late, honey.”

“What did you mean?”

I shake my head. “It’s actually something you can’t help me with.” I reach for my phone and pull up the images I saved.

Dropping his jacket, he hops back on the bed and swipes my phone.

“No way. Not without me.”

“I don't need you for this.”

“Charlie, the last time you claimed you didn't need me, you shamelessly admitted you were wrong. Don't tempt fate again.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll let you look for it later.” I wink.

“And just where do you plan on getting it?”

“That’s cheating.”
