“You convinced me.” Adam laughed pulling out a bundle of tickets from his pocket when we came up to the stand.

That wouldn’t be enough for what I wanted though. I dug down into my pockets and found the change from the lemonade, the change he’d refused to take back. With that and the extra tickets, I presented both to the volunteer. “Can we go in for longer?”

The volunteer gave me a long look. “We’re required to time each of these rides so they are the appropriate amount to accommodate the rest of the rodeo—”

“Uh-huh. Sure.” Adam slipped out his wallet and flashed the guy a hundred dollar bill. “Now can we?”

The volunteer grinned. “Exceptions can always be made.”

For once, I didn’t argue about Adam broadcasting how much money he had in his wallet. I was too busy yanking him off to the passenger car. The space really wasn’t great and Adam had to duck his head just to sit inside. He purposely put his legs together so I could sit next to him, but I took the seat across.

“What are you doing?” Adam frowned.

I held up a finger, asking him to give me a minute while I watched the volunteer work the levers.

“I have bruised knuckles, Piper,” Adam said, his voice low and husky. “Come kiss me better.”

Still staring at the volunteer, I didn’t budge from my seat until our car started rising in the air, rocking back and forth with the time. The view outside of the passenger car was amazing, but I wasn’t focused on that. I glanced back at the football player stretched on his seat, waiting for me.

“Can I borrow your jacket?” I asked.

“I told you to wear something warmer,” Adam reminded me and shrugged off the cowboy jacket. “I’m going to start bringing two jackets.”

I shrugged off my own lightweight jacket and set it on the seat next to me before I dug into his pockets, looking for the one thing I needed.

“Why don’t you come sit next to me?” Adam reached out and placed a hand on my knee. “I’m going to drag you over here.”

“Adam?”

“Hm?”

I finished checking the last pocket. “Do you have a condom?”

The easy grin on his face wiped away, and he stared at me for seconds, long seconds, while he tried to figure out if I was kidding. I wasn’t. Our passenger car came to a slow stop up top, and I breathed in adrenaline and the light air.

Adam shifted in place.

He was hard.

“Piper, you seem to be forgetting how big I am,” Adam said, watching me with those dark eyes.

My eyes flickered to his lap. “I didn’t forget.”

“Not that.” He gestured to our tiny, cramped space. “Piper, I’m too big.”

“And you don’t have a condom?” I pressed.

Reluctantly, he shook his head. “All back in the dorm.”

“I thought so,” I said softly and dropped his jacket to the floor. Adam frowned for a second, reaching down to pick it up, but I was quicker, dropping to my knees in front of him.

He breathed out. “Piper.”

“Adam.”

“What are you doing?” he rasped.

In the tight space, I could hear the hitch in his breathing when I reached forward and pressed my lips against the denim, long and slow.
