I roll my hips over him, letting his cock slip through my center slowly, and suck in a quick breath from the pleasure it brings. My clit is swollen and more than ready to move on with the moment, which Ryker can sense because he growls softly and twists us back around. I’d love nothing more than to sink myself onto him, but being out in the open has me chasing my release another way.

Ryker gently rolls and holds my back as he begins pumping deeper with each thrust.

"God," I whisper, grabbing his hair, bucking off the ground, and wrapping my legs around him. Each stroke is claiming me.

His eyes squeeze shut as I squeeze his length, grasping for his release right along with mine, and I throw my head back with my mouth parted in ecstasy.

Even if he tells me that no one can see us, I want all of him to myself. Yet, I need to chase my orgasm until I’m trembling like crazy from the aftershocks. His hand comes up to my mouth, gently covering it as I let out a moan of pure bliss, and he muffles every cry I try to make into the canyon.

My release is so close, teetering slowly over the edge, and Ryker nips at my jawline with his hand still over my mouth. I ever so slowly bring a finger into my mouth, sucking it slowly with my eyes glued to his, and that only makes his hips shift wildly into me as he holds my stare.

Before I know it, I’m seeing stars and shaking like a leaf against his body while my orgasm crashes around the two of us. With Ryker’s wide frame and long arms wrapped around me, I don’t feel as exposed as I should, and I take a moment to gather my breath. His length is still hard as a rock beneath me, forcing me to slide down the length of his body with a knowing smirk aimed at him.

He hisses when I flick my tongue over the head of his cock, but he pulls me away with a shake of his head. “We need to leave. Right fucking now.”

At least I’m not the only one who wants more privacy. I quickly pull the clothes he tossed to the side, not even bothering to make sure they’re righted, and let him pull in the direction of his car at the bottom of the trail.

When we both flop into the front seats, I’m not surprised that he reaches over and pulls my face into his for a searing kiss. I drown in the feel of his lips moving perfectly in tandem with mine, the way I breathe in the air he lets out, and I know there’s no other man I could ever feel this with.

Ryker is the first to pull away and does so with another growl before peeling away from the trail leading to our favorite spot, then gunning it in the direction of his house. I leap at the idea of walking back through that front door, being where I felt I’ve belonged since walking inside the first time, and I give his hand a quick squeeze as he pushes on the gas.

There’s a chance that this isn’t the life we were meant to live, but everything about him being next to me feels like he’s the missing piece of me I’ve been searching for. He’s got demons; everyone does eventually, but they don’t shape the man he truly is, and I’m glad I got to know the true Ryker behind the anger.

I can see him now, running around our backyard with the kids and chasing them with a bright smile on his face, and I smile at the very thought.

Quickly, though, it’s replaced with an image of him leaving without coming back to me and abandoning our family just like he disappeared over the last month without a word.

He catches the frown and tilts his head. “What’s wrong, baby?”

Baby.

Not sure if I’ll ever get used to him calling me that, but it never sounded better from anyone’s lips but his own.

I sigh heavily and pick at my fingers. “Why didn’t you come back for me sooner? It’s not like you couldn’t have found a way.”

Ryker frowns. “Your career was in jeopardy. Mack threatened me with it to keep me away from you, and I thought it was the best choice I could make with the circumstances.”

He angles himself closer to me, grabs hold of my hands, and gives them a reassuring squeeze. “Wren, you have no idea how much I wanted to come after you once I realized you were gone. He made it nearly impossible, so I had to wait until I got those problems squared away before doing anything else.”

“Where’s Mack now?”

“Well, after I let the guys know everything, they came to a unanimous decision to fire Mack.”

“Fire him? But why?”

“He was taking pictures of us while you were at my house, saving them to use as leverage against me, and the guys didn’t want to risk the same thing happening to them in the future.”

“So, he’s just… gone?”

Ryker nods, then he looks at the house in front of us and shakes his head before smiling at me. “That’s no longer important, though.”

“Oh, yeah?” I ask with a raised brow. “And what is, Rockstar?”

He grins. “You deciding to give me a second chance and creating a family together.”

When I don’t answer him, to overcome with emotions, he brushes a strand of my hair behind my ear and says, “I know I messed up, but I love you, and I’m more than willing to spend the rest of our future making it up to you.” “I love you, too,” I whisper.

He presses a kiss against my knuckles, then drops my hand before turning the car off and pushing open the door.
