“Emma, do you want more? A good morning fuck?”

“Jordan, I always want you, but I’m a little sore.”

“I would expect you to be after last night and this morning.”

“It’s still early.”

“So it is, but I had a call to make, and I decided to make us a little breakfast.”

He puts the tray down on the nightstand, and I find petite banana and blueberry muffins, fresh bagels, fruit salad, and fresh coffee.

“Did you go out?”

“No, Avalon. I told you they service the residents. You can get anything you like even at three in the morning.”

“I just might move in here for the food.”

Jordan looks at me, expectantly, “Have you thought about it?”

“Not really. Give me some time. I promise to give you an answer soon.”

“I’ll try to be patient.”

“Don’t you want some distance between us?”

“No. Do you?”

“Not really.”

He picks up a banana muffin and pops it in his mouth, “Not really?”

“I just think some distance is healthy. Suppose we work and live together? We probably will end up hating each other.”

“Is that what you think will happen?”

“I just don’t want it to. I don’t want to work with you and bring home a problem to our personal life.”

“Emma, that won’t happen.”

“Jordan, it always happens. Do you think you can blur that line? If you’re angry with me, it’s not going to turn off when we step out of the elevator.”

“We could promise not to take it home with us.”

“It’s an empty promise. It will come home with us, and it could turn ugly.”

“I don’t agree.”

“Have you ever lived with someone?”

“Only in college.”

“I live with Nathaniel, and I know what can happen if you have an argument. Look what we had to deal with before he left for the UK. We didn’t talk for a week and avoided each other. I can’t take it if that happens to us.”

“Do you honestly think I would allow that to happen? I couldn’t take you being angry with me. I would beg for your forgiveness.”

“Let’s just think carefully before we leap.”

“Agreed. Happy?”
