Adam burst out laughing. “Well, I don’t know what you’re complaining about. I heard you hooked up all summer with a bartender from Alejandro’s. You should be good for a while.”

My gaze swiveled to Sam, ready for some gossip. But rather than being excited to spill his business as usual, his brows furrowed. “Who told you that?”

Now Adam snorted. “Ben. And he knows everything that goes on over there.”

“He’s banging the boss. He should know everything,” Owen added.

“Actually, he’s married to the boss now,” Michael added with a smirk, like he’d one-upped us.

Both of their mouths fell open as Adam cracked up at them. “You boys should know by now there’s no getting anything past Phantom.”

“Yeah, yeah,” I said, turning to Sam. “Who did you hook up with, Sammy? Was it Lauren, or the other girl?” I could never remember her name.

Owen poked Sam, making his curse. “Stop, fucker. And no. It wasn’t either of them.”

I looked at Adam, who tilted his head like a dog trying to figure out a sound. The other two bartenders were Finn and Max. Not counting Ben, who was married now, evidently. Both our smiles took over our faces, but Adam got there before I did.

“You hooked up with Finn, didn’t you?”

Sam sunk down onto the sofa and pulled his hood over his head. “Fuckers,” he muttered.

“Oh, no, Sammy boy. You are going to spill every last detail of how that happened. Not the actual hooking up. We know how that works.”

“I thought you were straight,” Owen added.

“So did I,” he murmured from his cocoon.

Michael spoke up. “And with that interrogation, I’m outta here. You know what to do, Rockstar.”

“Boy, do I,” Adam replied, then got up to kiss him.

Sam uncovered his face a bit, then sat up.

“Can we please put this off until a later date? Maybe say, never? We really need to rehearse.”

Sam clearly didn’t want to talk about it, and I could understand and respect that. “Hey, Sammy, no worries, man. We’re not going to hound you about it, I promise. But if you need someone to talk to, we’re here for you.”

He nodded and looked at the floor. That feeling was very familiar to me, and I felt for him. “I’d just don’t…”

He sighed heavily and shook his head as if he didn’t know how to handle it.

“I’m serious. You know I’ll never let?—”

My thought was interrupted when Michael called my name. “Cole. Can you come with me a moment?”

My brows furrowed. His facial expression was serious, like it had been that night. I stood. “What the fuck now?”

“Just come with me. We need to find Patrick wherever he is in this mansion.”

I scoffed. “It’s not a mansion. It’s only five thousand square feet. You know?—”

He was distracting me.

“Where is he? We need to go to the office.”

The doorbell rang before I could ask any questions. I stepped over and opened it to find Aidan and Jesse standing there.

“Too late, Phantom. The office came to us. Come in, and what the fuck is going on now?”
