What he didn’t know was he was playing right into my hands. And it couldn’t be more perfect.
I was able to hold off Mr. Nosy until we arrived at Horseshoe Bay to catch the ferry.
“Please tell me?” he begged. “I’ll blow you as soon as we get to where we’re going.”
He was like a fucking kid, and relentless. But I loved him, and this was fun.
I rolled my eyes. “Fine,” I said as we sat in line to drive onto the ferry. “We’re going camping like we did when we were kids. But instead of making you sleep in a tent on the ground, because that sucks, I rented a house that I think you’ll enjoy more. It’s just me and you.”
Cole grabbed my face and kissed me, making the world disappear until the cars behind us started honking.
“Fuck. Sorry!” I raised a hand and waved in apology. “It’s Cole’s fault. It’s those lips of his.”
We laughed and enjoyed the twenty-minute ferry ride to Bowen Island. There was a lot to do, but we had the option to just chill if we wanted.
When we reached the dock in Snug Cove, I followed my GPS to the little two-bedroom cottage nestled among the evergreen trees that sat on top of a hill. The island was only twenty-eight square miles, but offered everything we could possibly need. It was like a small town with a limited population. It was perfect.
The cream-colored craftsman-style home had a wraparound deck that I knew would get his attention. I could see him playing his guitar out there as we watched the sun go down.
“This place is fabulous!”
Cole opened the door and got out, then spun to look at everything around us in this wooded getaway. The large rectangular windows overlooked the blue water of Howe Sound. Around the back of the cottage, a wooden fence strung with lights and a very nice fire pit sat, waiting for us to enjoy. A set of very steep steps lead down the rocky beach below.
“Do you like it?”
Cole’s eyes blazed with a heated gaze as he motioned toward the door. “Almost as much as I love you. Let’s check out the inside.”
Opening the glass storm door, I tried to enter the code on the keypad as he plastered himself to my back, hands roaming, lips and tongue seeking any skin they could reach. He was making me crazy.
“Hurry up,” he hissed as he pressed his khaki-clad dick over my ass.
I breathed out a laugh at how easily he could undo me with his touch. “You’re gonna have to stop that if you want me to get the door open.”
Cole huffed and backed up a quarter-step, but never took his hands off me. I felt the same desperation for him, and I couldn’t touch him enough. It was like we never lost those intense teenage feelings for one another almost seventeen years later.
When I finally got the door open, I reached for his hand and pulled him inside, only to press him against the door. My mouth found his in a heated kiss that changed intent as I kissed him. There was no need to rush anything. All I wanted was to spend the rest of my life with him, content just to kiss Cole breathless, and show him how much he meant to me.
I pulled back just enough to rest my forehead against his. We both breathed out a sigh of relief, as if we’d been holding that in for hours. And I guess we had. One day soon, I was going to do that wherever I wanted.
“Ready to see the rest of the place?”
“You mean there’s more?”
I hummed and kissed his forehead. “Come on, I want you to see everything.”
I took his hand and led him through the house.
“Oooh, I love those navy-blue cabinets.”
“We can remodel our house if you want. A whole new color palette, if you want.”
He shrugged as he ran his fingertips over the cool granite countertops. “Maybe at some point, but it’s fine the way it is.”
His eyes sparkled with happiness that I felt all the way to my toes. It had been so long since he’d looked at me like that. We were seeing each other through new eyes.
I kissed his cheek and took his hand again, like he was a toddler. It made me smile to think we could be dads one day, raising a family in the future.
“Check out the bathroom and that big shower. Lots of room for two.”
